'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Futacs happy to stay, but can he?

We had a 'hint' from Chuck that he wants to stay and Marko Futacs has admitted that he would like to stay if he can?

Futacs, as he told The Pompey Site, is technically out of contract in the summer I think?

Yep we have/had the option to trigger another year on his contract but I am pretty sure that this never happened, even though it was thought it would, due to our problems off-the-pitch. Maybe I am wrong and it has happened?

Either way, he has said that he would be 'very happy' to stay if he can though if he is playing 1st team football: 'in terms of staying here next season, we will see what happens in the future.

'I have talked to the gaffer and for me, as a young player, it is important to play and get as many minutes on the pitch as possible.

'This club has a huge history and I would be very happy to stay.'

I think the guy has something about him and could be a valuable asset for us in the future, especially in league one - although I question our ability, financially, to be able to keep him to be honest?

There are very few in the current 1st team squad that we can, realistically, afford to keep due to their wages - this was unsustainable as a championship side, so how the hell could we manage this in league one.

With more job cuts this week, including some that have been with this club - and loyal - for many a year, and backroom staff members are to go at the end of the season I would have to say Futacs will be off this summer but fear that PFC may be off too...

I wonder if we trigger the clause to have him for another year, whether he is on the wages he was on this season. That will be the problem if thats the case.

Nope can't see him staying- he's good enough for the Championship and someone will assume that he's better than Pompey's situation allowed and will make an offer; also Appy's public attack on his subs was clearly aimed at him and Kitson - who will also be gone by end May

Would probably be ok in League 1 but it's time for the new broom to sweep through so would expect his exit.

I'm anticipating that new broom being Chanrai- has too much to lose and the trust has insufficient credible finance ignoring the other factors

I'm quite touched that players are happy to stay and play in Division 3. I don't care if it's, 'what they would say'. Oh, and by the way, I'm already looking forward to next season. PUP.
