Football league fear for Pompey

As the new 'financial fair play' rules come into play the football league chairman, Greg Clarke, has admitted he fears for our future.

Fan power alone will probably not be enough to prevent Pompey from being liquidated...

And liquation is something he fears, as he told sky sports news, could happen: 'the debts at that club are immense, we are talking tens of millions of pounds.

'Now unless someone comes with significant capital to invest in that club, the club will be liquidated by the administrators.

'So it all depends if someone turns up with millions of pounds to invest in Portsmouth.

'The size of that bill may be too big for the local fans, I think the people of Portsmouth are doing their best to raise money, but it's a big ask to raise tens of millions of pounds from football fans.'

I think we all realise the position that we are in, but if not then these thought should give you that wake-up call needed eh!

Clarke 'expects liquidation if a new owner does not come forward this summer' but hopefully they will, and will do this in conjuncture with the proposed fans buyout...

This is a harsh reality that isn't going to go away. We have to try to do what we can, but I think that we all realise we might not be able to stave off Plan B - and it does have the appeal of being a brand new debt-free club, whatever league it may be in. In the meantime, if you can sign up to the Trust's scheme, then please do!

That's the stark reality, Rug which has been on the cards since the collapse of CSI. It's even worse now - who wants to take on all that debt for a league 1 team? Plan B has no appeal at all for me Tracy. If it's liquidation then I'll live with my memories. I accept for younger supporters maybe there will be an appeal towards a 'new Pompey' Sad days!!!

well i for one am confused, so can some one please help me out. I accept the level of debt at the club means that no buyer will agree to pay that off in full. However IWO that TB had said if a buyer offered as little as £2, OR £3M HE WOULD HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT..and the Creditors would then take a share of that leaving the club new and debt free. If that was the case though there would queues of buyers Including the PST. WHat have missed, or mis understood folks?

Sad thing is ive been saying this for at least two years. I'm afraid the Club i've loved since childhood will be no more past the summer. That i'm afraid is the hard sour truth.
