Pompey fans are something else

Pompey fans are something else

I think (the thoughts that Pompey fans are 'something else') as something that we all know is right, right?

We have proven this time and time again, we showed towards the end of the Derby game when it was pretty certain we were going down that, in many ways, we did not care. This was also shown by the show of support at the end - most fans did stay behind for the 'lap of appreciation' too.

Chuck, as he told The Pompey Site, has spoken of his admiration for us following his first taste of relegation: 'I've never known anything like it. At lot of people say that about their own fans, but ours are something else.

'I've never seen fans like it in my career. To give us the support they have when we've let them down on a few occasions is unbelievable.

'It's my first experience of being relegated and it's with a football club that doesn't deserve it.'

Chuck feels that the players efforts could not be faulted but does know that there will be some 'what if' thoughts about games that could, and should, have ended more positively but you cannot change it so you move on...

Speaking of 'moving on' I would imagine that Chuck would be one of those, due to his decent wages I would guess, that could well move on this summer?

He is not talking like a man that wants to do this though but above all else he knows who MUST be retained at Fratton: 'I've still enjoyed the season. The off-field stuff hasn't affected the lads in the dressing room too much. I'm so settled and happy here - it's a great place to play.

'It's important to get things right off the pitch - to get sensible owners. But keeping the gaffer is also important for this club.'

In all honesty there have been times this season, I cannot lie, when I have questioned Chuck - maybe I was expecting too much? - but to be fair I think he has had a good season overall and what a strike against Scum eh!

Go to about 13.32 if you want to skip to Chuck's goal, but also 7.25 for McGuire's!!

For that goal alone, whatever happens with him now, he will always hold legendary status with Pompey...

I truly believe there are no other fans like Pompey fans - its so sad what's happening to our club, we don't deserve this! Still never mind, lets all have a disco at Forest on Saturday!

On this day in history...13th February

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 13th February.

Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.

Winning over the fans

Cook feels he still has to 'win over a proportion' of the fans at Pompey?

Tubbs surprised...in a way he has a point

5-goals in a combined total of 8-matches isn't a bad return is it so having made his move to Eastleigh this week I get Tubbs' point at his surprise Cook wasn't selecting him.
