Thanks Elaine, and good luck!

Thanks Elaine, and good luck!

As I suspect many of you now know, and/or did anyway, ticket office manager Elaine Giles is retiring after many years of loyal survive to Portsmouth Football Club.

What an absolute legend this woman is, and what wonderful service - and others in the ticket office to be fair - has she offered us fans eh?

I cannot thank her enough for her help, on countless occasions, for me personally and people that I have travelled with from Devon over the years. She has never let us down and always come up trumps for us.

Many of you on Vital Pompey also have her to thank for tickets that she has managed to sort out for you after I had put you in touch with her.

I never had the opportunity to meet her in person but I spoke with her a number of times over the phone (one such occasion when she called me on my mobile, having found this out, to confirm tickets for the away leg of the Guimares game late on when I decided that I really had to go!) and have exchanged hundreds of emails with her (the number of times she would reply VERY late at night when you would have expected her to be 'off the clock' amazed me!)

She will be very much missed by everyone at Fratton Park but well and truly deserves her retirement, something I wish her every happiness with.

Thanks for everything Elaine, you are one of those unsung Pompey heroes and like I say is a legend!

I also have a memory of a phone call from Elaine that I will never forget. I was offered only 1 ticket for the 2008 cup final, and HAD to have 2. The feeling of elation (Elaine-shion?) when Elaine rang me on my mobile to say I could have 2 tickets was second to none. Elaine, you're a true Pompey legend, thank you and enjoy your retirement!

Elaine was a star when I needed to sort tickets on various occasions, none more so than the 2010 Cup Final. I paid on the gate at Wigan for me and my son and didn't have a ticket stub. The only proof I had of going to the game was my car park ticket, but Elaine was more than happy to accept this as proof I was at the game and sorted out the two tickets. An absolute star.

Yes all the best Elaine. You were a star when getting the tickets for me & my mates for all 3 away European matches in 2008, ahhh those were the days.

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
