Fantasy Football Week One

Hi my name is Les Matthews and here comes my fantasy football update for game week one;

First of all I want to thank everyone who has entered, we have 38 teams! Despite stepping down as Vital Pompey`s editor, I will provide you with a weekly round up.

It is now possible for you to view your opponents team now, just click on their name in the league.

Top 5 after week one is as follows;

1) pompey_pessimist (Chris Guyatt) 78
1) The Bachey Bunch (Sam Bache) 78
3) I Heart Gary O`Neil (Pete Alexandre) 67
4) lost_sols_forever (Oli Burgoyne) 66
4) PUP FC (Peter Young) 66

Bottom Place

38) Judas` Blue & White Army (Peter Jennings) 23

Each week we will review someone`s team and this week I have chosen Chris Guyatt`s team.

Jaaskelainen (6)

Terry (c) (24)
Taylor (5)
Konchesky (2)

O`Neil (6)
Pederson (2)
Gilberto (8)
Parker (10)

Yakubu (9)
Defoe (2)
Beattie (4)

Ok so he had a bit of a one man army with John Terry getting him the majority of his points. I do believe he has chosen wisely though, with three strikers who will all get goals. None of his midfielders will score big numbers but should all end up with a reasonable points total.

He even has a strong bench which includes; James, Chimbonda, Neil and Carrick. I have a feeling that he will put James into his side before the Man City game.

I recon with a squad this strong Chris will be in the top three at the end of the year.

Want to tell everyone the reasoning behind your selection, email me at lesmatthewspfc@hotmail.com and I will review your team next week.

It's a long way to go with this league, but usually things sort themselves out after 5 games. With Arsenal and Liverpool not playing this week it causes managers to cry out like Harry, "We're down to the bare bones !"
