3 for me. A home win over Grimsby in 1986 as we pushed for automatic promotion, though we ended up coming 4th & missing out, no play offs then when we needed them. 2 years later we were in the top flight & desperate to hang in there. A difficult night at Plough Lane, cold & wet. Dodgy meat pies, those were the day. Alan Knight got a John Fashanu elbow in the face, no sub g/k so used an outfield player, name escapes me. Were doing well until they scored with 5 mins to go. Gutted. Then the loss to Liverpool in 2005 by then we were clear of the relegation battle. Is it me but isn't every season a case of near the top or near the bottom???

Having looked at the team sheet it was Kevin Ball who went in goal. Therafter Andy Gosney replayed AK & to be fair AG did very well even keeping the legend out once fit.

Norwich at home in 1965 was Jimmy Dickinson's last game at Fratton Park and I was there. After that Fulham A, Tranmere, Bournemouth, Grimsby and Liverpool - six in all.

Hartlepool (a) - Safety first!

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
