Dodgy David?!? (8)

Dodgy David?? (8)

David James has been awarded an 8 in the Vital Pompey ratings. He started off a bit shaky where he was caught stuck on his line on the odd occasion.

As the game went on he impressed in the key areas;

Distribution- Ok so we are used to Deano`s kicking but David James can launch the ball down the pitch and cleared the danger well quickly putting Blackburn on the back foot.

Handling- After the shaky start James started to come for crosses and took no prisoners! Although he punched the ball a lot, all punches where clear of the danger zone.

Shot Stopping- Made some super stops and defiantly proved that he is a class act. James was a big presence and didn`t really look like conceding.

Next match- Should maintain his place in goal and build on his good start in a Pompey shirt.

Is it me or has he started to look like Nigel Quashie?

Don't know why we are looking for fault? There are only a few better around & plenty worse. He's here giving everything to help us progress. Back him all the way.

he was very good

He thourelly deserved the chants of "England's no.1 ....."

Class act. I like Kiely & Ashdown, but James is better!

James will make mistakes but you have to remember the saves
lmatthews
Looked pretty solid, I was initally a bit concerned at the number of punches but he definitely made decent contact with them (unlike a certain Mr Chalkias). Kiely/Ashdown will have to work very hard to knock him off the number 1 spot.
Tantona
Great game, looked confident and marshalled his defence well.

I've always said that his mistakes are remembered more than his saves, but the saves FAR outway the mistakes. He makes no more errors than any other top 'keeper that is for sure. Unless McLaren doesn't want the "old man" around anymore deserves an England squad place at least...
