Thorne out for the season

Pompey will be without George Thorne for the remainder of the season - meaning it is unlikely that we will see him in a Pompey shirt again.

It was 'thought' that the ankle injury he picked up last week was not too bad but it is as bad as it could be with Appy confirming that he is out for the season: 'there's no chance of him playing again this season.

'It's a blow. He's been outstanding.'

So, the good news of Thursday that Chris Maguire was staying until the end of the season has been knocked somewhat by this news.

Yep, we will miss Thorne but in all honesty - on the whole - I do not think that he has been as impressive during this spell as he was his initial spell before Christmas. That said I have appreciated his efforts and if we can get him back on loan again down the line then I would not say no.

Ah well, there is nothing we can do so we - the players - just roll up their sleeves, hopefully, get on with it and look to plug that gap...

Gotta agree about his form since returning but he appeared to be getting more up to speed in the last few games. Who can play that sitting role now? Mullins has gone i suppose Ward might do the job. THanks George for your efforts.

I thought he was a serious player in our last few games. Strong and purposeful with the ball and playing others in when possible. Going to miss him. We could play The Axe in that role? Hmm, I thought that suggestion might put things in perspective a bit.
