*Fernandes Fails Medical*

Fernandes has failed a second medical with Pompey still concerned about the players groin injury. Harry has said; "We will see what his situation is in a couple of weeks."

However Vital Pompey understands that he will have more tests next week to enable enough time to find a replacement. Harry has admitted that he is frustrated;

'It has been a frustrating summer but we are still in there trying and I couldn't ask for more support from the owners.'

If they think 2 weeks will make a difference why not get him signed up anyway. If they think it's more serious then bin the deal all together.

Not the news we were hoping to hear today, groan!
17/08/2006 16:30:00
agreed again steve, i have just posted i hope we take the risk, surely a deferred payment deal can be done. Or as you say if it is real serious bin or keep him here and hold an option on his contract in its entirety untill January. not the best comparisons but real madrid did it for Woodgate.
17/08/2006 16:33:00
Have to say Steve, that as far as I am concerned this is another signal for scepticism. I have as you know always been optomistic, BUT// we have been linked with 100 million worth of players and spent 1m. Harry said he looked fit now, now he aint. Several players we have been in for we suddenly become disinterested in. I doubt now if we have money? Lots of big offers, but none coming off. is that because we are being found out when we cannot pay?
17/08/2006 16:37:00
I don't doubt the money is there but the sort of players we're hoping to get see that we narrowly avoided relegation, when other clubs are interested and can offer them europe and better facilities than ours it's not so hard to understand why they end up going elsewhere. If we can improve this season then next season should be a bit easier to get the players we want.

BBC are quoting Muntari as saying that a deal to bring him to Pompey is 99% done. A bit of slightly better news for us.

continuing in my pessimist vane, season not without the facilities steve, and according to an interview the guardian on line did with Sacha there now seems to be yet another problem with the stadium and it has been stopped ( have to say ive not read this anywhere else and it was a fairly anti pompey article). Gentleman in the Rutland who rang about the council about the training facility was told that there is no design for the training facility in place so planning consent can be considered. Everything is still years away.
17/08/2006 16:54:00
yeah, but Muntari is another defensive midfielder isnt he? I see Duffy is aiming for a starting place, if he is I suggest he looks at moving into centre forward and he'll walk straight in. I accept what you are saying about the likes of farfan, martins etc, BUT// what about the likes of NUGENT etc, surely we should be able to pull that one out of the bag, and Kanu (not that I am too excited about him coming) FFS hasnt even got a job but it takes weeks to seal a deal. WHY???
17/08/2006 16:58:00
I read the same article Oy Vey Pompey i believe it was called. It was obviously designed to suggest that Sacha has no money and that we are being funded by Arkady. Think it was also meant to cast doubt on HR's future. I took most of what it said with a pinch of salt. The comment about the stadium did concern me but nobody has actually backed that up. I would imagine that as the Training facility stands drawing up plans for it could be a lengthy process, especially if thay have to be approved in Israel first lol.

Nugent according to one report i read is now a target for Newcastle.
