Huseklepp's Birmingham departure confirmed

What The News 'understood' about Erik Huseklepp leaving Pompey for Birmingham has been proven correct.

The Pompey Site have confirmed his departure for St Andrews on loan until the end of the season...

Huseklepp joins Birmingham

Pompey's Norwegian striker Erik Huseklepp has signed for Championship rivals Birmingham City on loan.

The loan deal will last until the end of the season but will be extended in the event of Birmingham reaching the play-offs.

Huseklepp, 27, was signed by former Pompey boss Steve Cotterill on a three-year deal in August. He came from Italian club Bari after spending less than a year there, in which time they were relegated amid financial problems.

Having started his career at Norwegian club Fyllingen, Huseklepp spent six years with fellow Norwegian's Brann.

An international with 26 senior appearances to his name, he made his Pompey debut as a late substitute in a 0-0 draw at Bristol City, catching the eye immediately.

But it was several weeks later that he really took off in the eyes of Blues fans, scoring a superb and dramatic injury-time winner against Blackpool after letting fly with a volley that flew past the keeper into the top corner.

Three days later the high turned to a low when he scored an injury-time own goal as Peterborough clinched a 3-2 win at Fratton Park.

But Huseklepp got back to scoring ways against the man who signed him when Cotterill's Nottingham Forest were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat, in which the Norwegian helped himself to a brace.

And another double followed at Peterborough last month when Pompey chalked up a 3-0 victory.

Huseklepp's sixth goal for the Blues came in a 1-1 draw at Blackpool earlier this month.

Depressing times once more at Fratton Park eh. How much more depressing can they get...

Will we have enough players left for the weekend against Leeds, how many more will be moved on before that game and/or in the coming weeks?

It is going to be hard enough to sell this club as it is, selling it as a league one side with little players will make it even tougher!

Selling it as a league one side with only the handful of players left over pretty much all being high earners, on premier league money, would be next to impossible and that is without the debts PFC has!

Although all this is based on the assumption that we even make it through this season anyway...

Why let the best players go? Not good not good!

Whose next, anything to slash the outgoings, is that a sound of a tractor coming down the lane to collect a player or 3???

At the moment I feel the only plan is chan- and being Asian he'd probably prefer to liquidate than lose face. 6 weeks left apparently, but I suspect Birch doesnt care either way and saving Pompey is not his main driver. Praps I'm just being cynical

Have got Scott Allen in from WBA, young lad they purchased from Dundee Utd in January. It's a start.
