Fernandes Tests Tomorrow Benji Stays

Fernandes is expected to sign for Portsmouth in a 10 million pound deal. Pompey are satisfied with the players fitness and so is the player.

Fernandes said 'I feel 100 per cent fit now and will have another medical. I cannot wait to sign.'

When I asked someone associated with the club I was instructed, "Wait until tomorrow."

Further tests will be done tomorrow with Pompey needing to meet the 12pm deadline of Thursday night for the player to be available for Pompey`s opener. It is not clear how long the tests would take and Pompey are likely to take their time.

Fernandes will smash Pompey`s transfer record originally held by Benjani. Ten million is an extraordinary amount for a struggling Premiership club to spend but Fernandes comes with a fantastic reputation.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho definitely rates him saying;

'Even though his conversion to central midfield was relatively recent, I do not think that, at 19, Makelele was a better player than Manuel Fernandes,' said Mourinho.

'From my vantage point, this kid looks calm, wise, sensible and, according to Tiago, deserves all the luck, because he is a nice person.

'I follow him very carefully. He is very strong defensively, and suited to pressurising teams in their own half.

'Without being tall, he seems to be sufficiently agile to compete in the air. His passing is accurate, he takes good positions near the opposition's box and has a powerful shot.'

I must remind fans that although the Pompey fitness staff are satisfied, until he passes his medical is completed and it is announced on the official site I don`t think we should get too carried away just yet!

The link bellow is a demonstration of Fernandes`s talent, this was found by a Vital Pompey member;

In other news- Many Vital Pompey members where pleading with Pompey to keep Benjani and… he will be staying.

Redknapp said, 'There is no chance of 'Benji' going anywhere.'

The boy needs to settle down with the team. He hasn't played any pre-season matches so won't be match fit. Would be a great signing for the club and will eventually make other teams take notice that PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB are still Premiership.

This signing could put Pompey in the top half. The Monitor nows has us at 10th place.

gents that fernandes url is www.youtube.com/watch?v=79iEE55-08 you'll see 6 clips, including some mendes type goals then read the comments underneath, people seem genuinley amazed by him then even more amazed that he's coming to us. if he's given the time to succeed and it works with him he could eclipse sol, LuaLua and all.

The Fernandes url is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XY9iE55_08 If he signs for us and plays anything like what he shows in the video we are all in for a treat! The only trouble is likely to be the expectations it will raise putting pressure on him. As has been said by others, we must allow him time to settle in.

I think it's great to be excited about our new 8-10 million quid signing. It'll be interesting where he plays in the midfield. While they say he will probably fill the defensive slots currently occupied by Mendes and Davis, I personally expect to see him used in the same way to D'Alessandro last year - more on the left. It'll be interesting to see. Anyway the good thing is that this guy should give our midfield a big boost (and remember we don't have too many midfielders at present) !
