'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Back from his sabbatical

Well, he is back!

Last week Joseph Cala 'officially' withdrew his bid for Portsmouth Football Club.

He cited a failure to 'agree terms with the club's major creditor Portpin, controlled by Pompey's former owner Balram Chainrai' as his reason for withdrawing his bid and said he was 'sad' and would take a 'sabbatical'...

This has been short-lived with him now telling BBC Radio Solent 'he is back in the running to buy Portsmouth FC.'

The report says that 'Cala says his banker will now deal directly with Portpin's owners.'

Has much changed for him in a week, or however long it has been since he withdrew his interest?

Only he can answer that I guess but can he now 'provide 12m as proof of funds, and assurances they could meet another 20m in repayments to former creditors, Chainrai and Alexandre Gaydamak' though...

Finally the BBC report said 'The Portsmouth Supporters' Trust are meeting with local businesses on Thursday in an attempt to form a consortium to help save the Championship club.'

Time is of the essence, and time is not something we have much of...

who cares as long as we survive?...well all of us if it just prolongs the death and agony...but if we have misjudged him and he saves the club and turns it into a viable unit then fine-Capt'n Nemo's Blue and White Army... or "Cal-Cala -Cala comedian...he comes and Go's-he comes and Go's" or SuperCala-Unrealistic-crazy-expectation's

Yep hard to argue with what chix says. Live to fight another day. We are in no position to argue who owns us, can't see too many super heroes banging in the door!

Cala has taken quite a lot of critcism from some of you on here. However, he made not be as stupid as you have tried to imply. Brinkmanship is a common game in in takeovers and BC knows the game too. With the wages and tax threats looming BC may just feel it's time to settle and let Cala have all his current problems. Perhaps Calas eccentricity is misplaced. I for one hope so if he gets ownership. Its not over till the fat lady sings! PUP

Agreed, Chix, ED, M54 & PG; even if the choice was as simple as have Cala or lose Ryan, Joel and Jason, it would have to be Get Cala!

To be Honest...if he was an Idiot, he would not have been invited into the directors box, or got anyway near to the club..so despite our slating of him he certainly is not a fool. What he may be is a stooge, he was introduced to the club by BC, but for what purpose? Like every one if his aquisition buys us time and we are able to keep the squad together untill summer, then fine by me.. I feel AA is a poor administrator for us, but a good one for BC..there has been interest in club, all has cleared off because he is duty bound to get the best deal for BC, not PFC. Last time he dismissed Rob Lloyd as a time wasting publicity seeker(Sound Familiar ?) and the 19 year old school boy...well that might have been a good decission..and we are always hearing that there is Two or three interested parties... I am starting to get numb now..i have also noticed that the other sites that no one is making wild predictions about who is taking over anymore such is the mood of pesimism now

Perhapse Cala realises that an Escrow account is a minimum requirement and Chanrai has probably moved on his expected return. Me, i'll just wait and see what happens next. I also think AA knows how to play the game with owners and prospective owners and like him or loathe him Pompey need him.
