'Reports' coming out of East Anglia are saying that Ipswich are 'on the trail' of Pompey pair Joel Ward and Jason Pearce.
Apparently 'a bid has been lodged' for the players, who have been important this season and would be equally, if not more so, to out future.
Given the ability that they have it is little wonder that Ipswich, and other clubs, would show an interest in them and given our position you cannot blame for putting in a 'cheeky bid' can you, if roles were reversed we sure as hell would!
All we can do is hope that our position is not such a dire one that we have to start offloading those more important to a longer-term future simply because we cannot offload those that are not - although the harsh reality 'might' soon be that we have little option?
Like I say lets hope not though and hope that this week can finally see the takeover that has been the 'proposed takeover' for a number of weeks go ahead, and for this to be one that is in our best interests and can mean that we can assure that we keep the likes of Ward and Pearce...
I have little doubt that staying at Fratton would be their priority.
In better news, although still news with a slight negative impact, Adam Webster has been awarded a call-up by England at U17 level.
What a week eh, the 17-year-old debuts for Pompey then gets an England call-up!
He has been called-up for an international tournament in Portugal next month and this has seen Andy Awford, talking to The Pompey Site, say the following: 'it's been a great week for Adam and he deserves this latest recognition. We're really pleased for him.
'It will be a huge benefit for him - just as it has been for Sam Magri in the past. Playing international matches against good quality players can only help him improve.'
Like I say this is good and bad though!
Obviously good for him as the benefit this will do him cannot be underestimated although it is bad for Pompey in a way as it means he will be away for a week or so and means he will definitely be unavailable for the visit of Hull to Fratton on February 4th...

i have just said it is 'good and bad' that he is playing for england - or at least selected...
like i say it is fantastic news for his development and can only help him, it is a shame that he will miss hull - assuming he would have played - but england calls do not come every day so we cannot stop him, Appy would not want to and nor should we.
