'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Herminated

As we walked away from Fratton yesterday one of my mates, who was listening to Express FM, said that it was being reported that The Herminator was 'poised' to move on?

Well, as I would imagine most have now seen, The News stated that they could 'reveal' this would be the case with a move to Coventry to be completed anytime now.

Last week I wrote an article about players having a new lease of life - here, and he was one of those I though 'might' just do that.

Then again I also said he was one of the least likely ones, from those mentioned, to do this...

So, one of the few surviving members of our FA cup winning side is about to move on and as much as I respect, admire and like the guy I would say that it is probably the best thing all-round.

At 37-years-old The Herminator has little time left in the game, so I would not begrudge him moving on to get this 1st team football, as it will not come here.

It also gets his wages, which I would still think are among some of the highest we dish out, off the wage bill and that will save us, I would hazard a guess, a minimum of at least £60,000 p/m...

With us, apparently, operating on a '1 out 1 in' policy then moving on someone that does not really feature in Appy's plan is the way to go, lets face it.

A new, loan, arrival this week will almost certainly come now.

Many would 'expect' this to be Joe Mattock although I am pretty sure that his loan arrival, which I am sure will come once West Brom have less injuries/sign players, is an exception to that rule we have to follow so a midfielder will come in?

Herman great player Mr 100% done us proud & he will fit into Coventry team at least he will get first team football. although hes lost his pace still will be a force to beat. as for £60K per week i think thats way of the mark. wasnt it said that Tel ben H was the highest paid player in the Championship also wasnt Herman only given a years contract last seaon?

sorry, meant £60,000 p/m, so £15,000 p/w, which i would say isnt too far wide of the mark tbh...

Well, thank you & goodbye to a real great servant to the club. There to win a FA cup final medal in 2008, a reward for his years with us. Time for the younger ones to step up to his never say die attitude.

Don't need to apologies Rug as did say £60k p/m in the article. As for move to Coventry, they look a bet for relegation, so he would finish as has always gone...unfortunately relegated! Should Coventry surviving not affect the Pomp, then would be nice for him/them to survive to finish him on a high!

A sad day for Pompey I use to love watching Herman charge down the pitch with the ball, was hoping he would be offered a place with the academy in some kind of coaching role, seems to be all down hill lately, what with Joe Cala-mity trying to buy the club thats if he has the money which I very much doubt, good luck Herman and thanks, always gave 100%...

Doesn't he already hold the record for being relegated with the greatest number of clubs? That said, a great servant - perhaps we can get a cameo out of him before he goes?

Let's say the £60k figure is correct - that amount won't be saved as he will have to be replaced; defensive performances prove that. TBH is the next in line I wouldve thought and I'm beginning to wonder if Halford is much more than a second thoughts defender.
