Cala talks...again!

Cala talks...again!

Joseph Cala continues to talk up his chances of completing a takeover at Pompey - with The News 'claiming' that he 'hopes an agreement can be reached by Wednesday.'

They have no direct quotes attributed to the subject but say 'Mr Cala said he was in lengthy discussions over buying the club yesterday but was unable to finalise a deal.'

Cala continues to talk up his 'US stock exchange' plan saying that £20m of his own 'personal wealth' would be invested into the club to make sure we return to the premier league, where all the money is...

And that is where he feels even more can be made and in doing this other investors can be found.

His master plan means that he will not lose his 'wealth in the process': 'I will not be losing my wealth because I will make the company public. I will own a lot of stock but then you are in the Premier League.

'The key is to be in the Premier League.

'If you don't have the drive and the plan to be in the Premier League you are just going to be another club.

'In the Premier League you already have £70m in TV rights and we should be able to get some terrific players with that kind of money.'

Increasing revenue is the key to his plan, but how will he do this with PFC?

Well 'revenue can continue to increase by remodelling Fratton Park with hotels and car parking, and through merchandising.'

I do not know guys!

As I have said previously we have to give people a chance but Cala's plans 'seem' deemed for failure and something, well several things, about him leave me concerned and worried that in another 6-12-months or so we will be in no better position than we are now, if not even worse...

Time will tell if Cala really is the 'front runner' to takeover at Fratton but I would say it is by no means a forgone conclusion that it will be him.

Some further thoughts over the past 24-hours have been that Cala is merely the 'front man' for someone else?

Although as was said to me 'a more credible person' could have been found even if, as someone else also said, he does have 'wealth in his own right'...

I don't feel comfortable with any of this. Again, why is AA reselling us, he's like a dodgy estate agent selling your house to a lot of dodgy buyers!!!

This chap terrifies me, the more I read the worse it gets. Let's just hope he's out for his 15 minutes of fame and nothing else.

Long term it sounds great - flotation, hotels, grand stadium etc. But he has nothing to get us to that position. His 'personal wealth' will see us wallowing in the CL or lower. The man's a dreamer, idiot or con-man.

Just a point of order on the article title, Cala spoke once the news has broken the interview down into various articles. In the news defence they said last week they would do that thing.

in that case i am alittle sorry for some of the content of this article then - i was not aware that this is what was happening...
altho my thoughts, well fears, of what cala would bring 'if' he does indeed take over remain in place tho!

disaster waiting to happen if he takes us on.

This is painful. I pray the great god zigger zagger protect us and send an honest and creditable owner - and soon. The money in the Premier league has attracted some truly unsavoury characters from around the world, and I'm not just talking about "business men and agents" Some of the footballers can be included in that category.

Can't get my head around all this, why did AA come out and say anything in the first place he did't have to! now Joe Cala has come out spouting rubbish about stock market plans and hotels etc. and whats worse the Portsmouth News actually printing the stuff, thinking they have a scoop, the mind boggles its like a circus the man just doe's not have enough money thats clear! its all very worrying its like AF all over again with the same clowns pulling the strings how do these people get into these positions? AA talks a lot but says nothing Joe Carla says to much, DL just acts dum the whole thing stinks whats the beting it all goes quiet then in 2 weeks time the players dont get paid, I feel for MA he must wonder what he's walked into....

It seems like an unrealistic plan and that he wants to do all this in one season or two seeasons? Its kinda risky and that fact that he wants us to be traded on stock exchange is kinda unusual and I don't know if I want our club to be revolved aroound a stock its really risky!

No More Quarter Final Replays For Pompey

Should Portsmouth progress through to an FA Cup quarter final from the 2016/17 season onwards, the game will no longer be subject to a replay.

On this day in history...27th May

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 27th May.

Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.
