Pompey's player of the month for December...

Pompey's player of the month for December...

The votes have been cast, counted and verified so we now know that the player of the month for December, as voted for by you the Vital Pompey Voters, was Joel Ward.

So, who was in contention and why?

Looking at the man of the match voting breakdown from the games played in December you can see who was in the running and exactly why...

MOTM against Coventry?
02 Ward 66%
13 Henderson 10%

MOTM v Burnley?
19 Norris 54%
08 Mullins 12%
18 Kitson 12%

MOTM against Scum?
02 Ward 39%
20 Thorne 25%

MOTM v Millwall?
13 Henderson 34%
08 Mullins 22%

MOTM v Leicester?
09 Futacs 54%
13 Henderson 15%

Having collected 2 of the 5 man of the match awards during December you cannot really argue against the Pompey-born man being the winner of the vote can you?

His equalising goal against Scum before Christmas was the cherry on top of the icing on the cake really!

Pretty much, as usual, 'Mr consistency' Hayden Mullins was there or thereabouts so I think that the 'unsung hero' deserves a mention.

Another that deserves this is Stephen Henderson, if you look you see that his name features quite prominently in these votes - he made some vital saves to keep us in some games, win us others or to keep the score more respectable in defeat!

The one 'surprising' name to feature so highly in this vote was Marko Futacs. Yep he had a decent game at the end of the month against Leicester, and did 'ok' when he came on against Scum but in this 100-minutes or so was he really the second best performer in the month...

PLEASE NOTE: Only those that only the top two - or equal - in the Vital Pompey 'man of the match' votes were considered for the player of the month award. The way we see it at Vital Pompey Towers you can only be in contention for this if people thought you were right up there as a standout performer in games played that month!

What the poll asked - Top MOTM scorers but who was player of the month for December?

How you voted - Ward 35%,
Futacs 34%, Henderson 10%, Mullins 9%, Norris 6%, Thorne 3%, Kitson 3%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded?

You know what to do guys, leave your thoughts below please. Also vote on the latest poll to your right...
