Peterborough v Pompey - fixture change

An FA cup exit for both Pompey and Peterborough at the weekend has seen a fixture change for that game, originally scheduled at the very end of this month.

Due to be played on Tuesday 31st this will now be played on the Saturday 28th.

Full details, as issued on The Pompey Site, are below...

Peterborough Trip Brought Forward

Pompey's Championship clash at Peterborough has been brought forward to Saturday, January 28 (3pm kick-off).

The match at London Road was originally due to be played on Tuesday, January 31, but the sides have taken advantage of having the previous weekend free following their early exits from the FA Cup.

Pompey were knocked out by Premier League giants Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while Peterborough lost at home to Sunderland.

Posh triumphed 3-2 when the sides met at Fratton Park earlier in the season, while Hamilton Thorp and David Hillier were on target in a 2-2 League Cup draw in the Blues' last visit to London Road in 1997.

Of course, for the football purist this is ideal, a Saturday game with a 3pm kick-off is all that most of us ever want.

That said it is highly probable that some had already made arrangements for the original Tuesday night game, such as work changes, train tickets etc.

Lets just hope that this change does not impact negatively too much on those already looking to go to this game, and as a result of the change some that would not have gone now can/will...

Pompey should be looking at 3 points from this game.

it 'should' be entertaing, games with posh usually are this season. plenty of 2-2, 3-2, 3-3, 4-3 etc. scorelines!
is saturday better or worse for fans, gotta be better surely?
pompeyrug
Personally I do prefer Saturday games to Tuesday evenings, I would think this is probably better for many. Just hope that the latish change hasn't caused too many any problems. It is still a couple of weeks away, so probably not too much.
