Bid for James Accepted

As the search for new players continues the club are now looking to secure the services of Manchester City`s David James. The Official Manchester City website confirms a Pompey bid has been placed, and accepted for the England International Goalkeeper who will now hold talks with the club over personal terms.

The 36-year-old 'keeper is keen on a move to be closer to his other half who currently lives in the South, so a move to Pompey and the South Coast could suit him fine.

I think David James is a better goalkeeper than our young Nick Jordan !

You will need God to save you now!! What with calamity James and 'I've got a screw loose Campbell in the same side, you are all dooooomed !!!!!!!!!! Coys
sidyid
These guys have recently played for England - no amount of put downs can stand in the way of their quality !
StuartM
amazing how bitter the yids are, oooh mate whats that your team are eating ? looks like a dodgy bit of champions league humble pie
russellm
Touche StuartM!!!

James does get some stick doesn't he, some he more than deserves but IMHO I don't think he has been that bad really the past few years. Everyone makes mistakes, but I still feel he makes less than some, and maybe no more than some other "top" 'keepers. His moments of brilliance far out way his moments of lunacy...
pompeyrug
I didnt want James to come but have two questions.....#1 pompeyrug what does IMHO stand for?........#2 unlike Deano last night can he kick out to a player in his own team ?
russellm
IMHO i believe is In My Humble Opinion. IMHO what do we need Calamity for, true Ashdown is injured but he would be my first choice. I see him moving further down the pecking order now and that means he's gonna start asking for a move. We'd have been better signing a young up and coming keeper to provide cover.
Steve C
Well at the end of the day we need another keeper right now, so James is not a bad idea, still think a Carson/Dudek load would have been the answer, then we would stand less chance of *****ing Ashdown off! wasnt keen on Nick Jordan last night, but still he looked real young. has Davis really lost weight?
CharlieChimes
IMHO...of course i erm knew that yes....i was just checking you lot were up to speed........Once again i find myself agreeing with a Stuart, and I do not understand why harry does note rate Ashdown, the whole team were cr ap against BCFC, so why did Jamie take the blame. But Stuart the other possibility is DJ becomes #1 so we may well find that we are looking for a Kiely replacement in january. The reasons he left charlton were his reluctance to fight for the #1 spot cos "he's done enough for the club" (heard that recently anyone?) and being criticised for his distribution. But as a shot stopper he's still one of the best around, good problem for Harry to have, but we must keep ashdowne
russellm
IMHO = in my honest opinion. james does have moments of brilliance but people never remember the good bits and only focus the on the ridiculous things he does... hopefully there wont be many of them left! as for ashdown, i dont rate him enough to put him on a pedestal just yet, he needs experience and if we let him go, then i wont be too bothered. we are a team building in quality and i think ashdown will get left behind anyway. as for jordan... didnt he play in the havant game too, he was dire! lots of pressure on him i suppose, time will tell whether he can handle moving up the squad list.

Damn you pp :) I was just going to say when I write IMOH I go for "In My Honest Opinion...
pompeyrug
IMHO even :)
pompeyrug
Jordan will proably just be another Chris Tardiff won't he? If James does arrive Kiely will leave, if not before the end of August (doubtful) then in January if he's not the #1. He won't hang around will he, not at 35, so Ashdown would again move up the order unless 'arry decided to bring in yet another 'keeper to replace Kiely in which case Ashdown would be looking for a move as well this time...
pompeyrug
see pessimist, pompeyrug agrees with me, did i tell anyone IMHO i look great in my new pompey shirt......
russellm
Shouldn't give Jordan too much stick for the Havant game, he did really well to close down the striker after O'Briens suicidal back pass and was unlucky with the rebound. He is young and will come on for the experience of having played. If we believe what we're told we managed to get hold of the best goalkeeping coach in the country so any talented Keepers we have should mature. Better put a no video games clause in DJ's contract though.
Steve C
are the new home shirts available yet and do we have pics?! the desciption seems fine, i normally buy every other shirt although i was stingy last time and got eh dark navy/red away shirt of 04-05 :p
pompey pessimist
i reckon kiely/james will survive 1-2 more seasons and hopefully by then (if they havnt gone) we will have 1-2 more keepers that are not 34+ in age and will be able to progress in euro cups :D
pompey pessimist
New Home shirts are just the opposite of the new away. just reverse the colours. Don't think they're availabe yet and the gold numbers look s***
Steve C
hahaha. dont they always!
pompey pessimist
Just read on the Mirrors web site that Sol Campbell said we've just bought a new training ground. Anybody know anything about it? It's not before time if it's true.
Steve C
plans have been "accepted" for the new training pitches at Titchfield Steve C, this was what Milan told us about a month ago i believe. of course, there are still MINOR things needing to be sort out but like the stadium this could take a few lifetimes so i wouldn't worry too much lol
pompey pessimist
Can't remember where I saw it, but the new training ground will be in Titchfield, Fareham. A covered pitch will also enable us to get acadamy status. I'm sure someone else can give you more about it. Still can't thank Milan enough for what he has done!!!
BobsleighBen
Thanks for that, i must have missed that announcement, still not in Pompey but much better than training down the road. That pitch has caused so many injuries.
Steve C
OS says James has signed on a 2 year deal
Steve C
calamity james will get u relegated ha ha
carrickisours
I can understand if Kiely would want to leave if he doesn't play any games in the first 6 months. But I think he would be silly if he goes before the end of the month though - I would then view him as a bit of a whiner like Brian Priske seemed to be. I liked Andy Griffin's attitude that he would stay and fight, and Linvoy's consistently positive attitude despite seemingly never starting a season with us
StuartM
after the mistakes james will make he will be in the team soon enough
carrickisours
DK needs to fight for his place. Competition is good. If either c0cks up early then the other can prove. There are injuries, suspensions, a few cup games etc. Time for egos to be left behind & put the club first. No doubt the players & agents would think this bolloxs.
storagematt
Guardian on line says stadium plan has been dropped again, and a location in Farlington (wasnt this idea already refused by the council oncebefore) is being searched.
