'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sol Aiming For Europe!

Most recent signing Sol Campbell has admitted that Pompey wasn`t his first choice (I don`t think I`m alone in saying this isn`t a surprise to me) but moves abroad, some of which were very close to completion didn`t quite work out.

But having signed for us he is more than happy with a "decision that was easy to make" as he has joined a "professional club going places with great potential". Speaking to Sky Sports News he would also say,

'If we get the right players and right attitude then Europe is within our reach,'

Words that every Pompey fan must be loving to hear, a dream that we all share. Having played in Europe on many occasions he is keen to do so again, adding,

'Europe is where I want to play again and I'm sure this club wants to be there as well. Everyone is ambitious here so why not?'

I`m sure we all very much hope that this can happen. Although it may seem a very long way off, but if we could make a few more quality signings and if Campbell can get back to his best marshalling the defence like he can then why not indeed!

Obviously Sol thought he would move to a big European club and was suprised when none asked !

We now need his heart not just his SOL.

oh dear, had hoped never to read that

its good to see he had no problems signing for us, hes obviously comfortable with his situation and hopefully his optimism will spur the rest of the team on to produce match winning performances circa end of last season!

Top ten would be a good start anyway!

It's a pity Hary preferres Dejan over Sol for the Captain's Armband. I think Sol would gel the players together with the rest of the team respecting him for what he has already acheived in the game. Dejan has won nothing and certainly didn't earn any more respect or any favours for speaking against Perrin when he was sacked last season. Sol Captain with Gary O'Neil vice captain. If England can drop Becks than Pompey can remove the armband from Dejan.

I think you could be right!!! But there is one thing i would do be for this and find out how sol works with his new players primus and cambell could work together and make a very solid force at the back
