'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The 'outside world' waits...

Over the past few days little 'snippets' of news have come out in The News, and other 'rumours' starting to filter through on t'internet about the arrival of the latest 'potential' new Portsmouth Football Club owner...

Well today the BBC reports that Admin Andy, as he told BBC Radio Solent, has said that Pompey are 'close' to announcing these new owners!

He says in the next week or so the 'outside world' should have some updates: 'we are in the final stages of agreeing terms with one particular party.

'I'm hoping that in the next seven to 10 days I will have some news for the outside world.'

Admin Andy continues to refuse to name names though...

He does insists that putting PFC in 'the right hands this time' is the priority with the football league then ready to do their 'fit and proper' tests: 'we've been actively looking for someone suitable to buy the club and we've had numerous interest as usual, some more suitable than others.

'They are coming in for the first time and we are checking their credentials to see if they fulfil all the criteria for the Football League.

'We are trying to scope out who they are and if they have the ambition and ability to take the club forward once and for all.

'We are looking to negotiate a contract and subject to that being okay we will put forward their application to the Football League who can conduct their own fit and proper person test and give us the thumbs up.

'Proof of funds has been done and we are fairly satisfied that they the finances to take the club forward.

'The Football League will do the work they need to do to satisfy themselves that these people are fit and proper because we are selling an important asset that is in the Championship and belongs to the city of Portsmouth and want to make sure put it in the right hands this time.'

The FPPT has proven, for us and other clubs really, basically to be a pointless exercise so fit or proper, or not, I would expect these would be owners to pass this without any problems!

Lets just hope once and for all they will prove to be both 'fit' and 'proper' to give Pompey that sustainable future we so desire, and I think I can say deserve after the past few years...

So, for the countless time we find ourselves on the brink of salvation guys!

'Sceptical' could be putting it mildly as to how fans will view this but whoever it is they will of course need to be given a chance to prove themselves but I am sure that the guard of just about every Pompey fan will very much be kept up!

If we can, once and for all, get proper 'football people' in this would be a good start eh...

That Italian family mentioned back along would not be a bad bunch perhaps as it would 'seem' that they are genuine football people, although no doubt there would be some mafia connection or something knowing our luck!?

What I don't get is why they have not come to us with an answer if we will get appoints deduction or not . How can the owners buy the club not knowing what league we will be in next year . The law of average says we are due a very rich owner who wants to blow his cash like city's and chelsea owners . That would be fun.

How about the Bill Gates Foundation, after he likes to help the poor and needy!

My only worry here is that it seems to have happened quite quickly compared to the last time. Were these guys waiting in the wings with regards to the CSI situation. Any business links with Antonov? Intrigue?

My money is on a Colombian drug smuggler keen to increase his share of the UK and European markets. Not sure I will feel safe under any new owners for years, no matter how 'legit' they appear to be.

This sounds good news but AA says 'we are fairly satisfied that they have the finances to take the club forward' - why only fairly??
eastneydave
exactly what i was thinking Dave, but after thinking about it i think all he's really saying is that they where confident about CSI and we all know how that turned out, so they're as confident as they can be that this lot are good for it lol. As for my view on this lot, have to wait and see who they are then the googling can commence and the dirt can be found lol :D

Another New Year, same old same old :o/

I always like the idea of Fan owning the club, which only really means Brian Howe or Mick Jones of Forriegner. However, with the latest growth in Chinese football, and Balu being in Hong Kong, my hunch is that it will be a Chinese funded bid

Yes a chinese link, they 'seem' they want to run the world now. If that's the case, the numbering on the back of the shirt will have a whole new meaning!!!
storagematt
hopefully this will mean we can keep what we have got and strengthen

The News had a headline of their website at 18:18 but strangely the article has been taken down!! It read UPDATE: New owners could be revealed in 24 hours.
