'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A similar feeling... Regardless Happy New Year!

Another 'interesting', for lack of a better word, year in the Pompey world is coming to an end eh.

As I lose track of time, and the virtual all year pantomime - not seasonal as is traditionally the case - that is Portsmouth Football Club I cannot remember if we left 2010 for 2011 with 'question marks' hanging over our future?

Although I am pretty sure we did...

As we leave 2011 to go into 2012 the use of 'déjà vu' seems massively overused for Pompey but again for lack of other words this is what we have once more!

Whilst, being painfully honest, I continue to struggle to understand WHY anyone would find PFC an 'attractive proposition' - put it this way we 'owe' 3 previous owners money in excess of £25m, including some £10m plus that Antonov now claims was a loan, which he 'borrowed' to begin with, that CSI injected into the club. Add to that that we have 'minimal assets' - I of course seriously hope and pray that we can find someone, and that they have genuine motives and are not 'crooked' or in it for 'money laundering' means etc...

With a growing number of Pompey fans of this opinion then you cannot help but really fear that the worst case scenario really could come along this time?

Sorry to continue the 'bleak' picture but 20012 would 'seem' as though it will kick-off in a turbulent way with the prospect of administration (if we can even go down that route again, something I still have reservations about should we default on the terms of the CVA agreement?) a distinct possibility, at the least...

Come what may I think that whatever happens we will keep battling on as when Portsmouth Football Club gets hold of you, try as you might sometimes, you cannot shake it off! Those, like myself, that were born into it cannot, and would not want to, change it but similarly those that are captured by the club cannot shake it off.

Alas, in spite of my thoughts we cannot be defeatist and must hope that someone somewhere sees something worth saving!

So, all in all it has been an 'interesting year' like I say. At least PFC can never be accused of being boring eh!

On a personal note 2011 has been a good one.

My relationship with Trina has continued to grow. We moved in together, had some wonderful times climbing up and trekking across some mountains in North Wales and experienced some blistering heat in Corfu but best of all she accepted my proposal to become my wife. Now we just need to find the money to pay for the wedding in 18-months time...

As you would 'expect' 2011 has seen the odd blip, as it has us all, but all in all can I reflect negatively on 2011?

Well, no!

Hopefully you can say the same and 2012 can be better still for us all...

'Should' Pompey manage to sort things out I genuinely feel that Appy has the right blueprint in mind and if he can see this through a bright and prosperous future, which WOULD take time, can be seen. He is young, hungry and best of all ambitious without living outside the realms of the realism.

Here is to a good - we all hope - 2012 for us all personally and of course football wise for Portsmouth Football Club.

Happy New Year guys.

It's never as bleak as it seems at Pompey - sometimes its much worse; somehow I think the doom and gloomers are just getting started but the club isn't finished just yet. In the mean time tonight I'm getting hammered in anticipation of Pompey getting hammered - so my match prediction Pompey win !!! 1-2 - but some of you already new that :-)
