January sales...

The 'expected', lets face it, 'January sales' edge ever closer but somewhat surprisingly Appy, as he told The News, insists that he is 'not under pressure' to sell: 'I am under no pressure whatsoever to sell players.

'If people want to buy our players then I expect them to ring me first before anyone else. Hopefully, I will be the first to know about it.

'What I would say which is important is that I have no interest in selling my better players. If people are thinking of trying it, forget it.'

He is not 'daft enough' to know that 'ridiculous amounts' will not be rejected, nor would he want them to be: 'I'm not daft enough to turn down ridiculous amounts of money.

'If people come up with serious offers - and it would have to be serious offers - I might look at it again. But the point I'm making is you won't get any of our players on the cheap.'

Would he really say any different?

Players will not be leaving on the cheap is the message that Appy is looking to get out there and like he has said himself that is how he summaries things...

Given our 'precarious position' once again quite clearly January will mean that if a player can be offloaded then they have to be, if for nothing else but to get their high earnings off the wage bill - and these 'high earners' are the ones that we need to move on and lets hope we can.

We have little time left now, only a matter of weeks - this much we have been told openly before the 'money runs out' - then it is administration again, assuming we still can go into this again?

Even if we do offload players in January we are still just delaying the inevitable, what is abundantly clear is, sell players or not, we must find a new owner, and fast...

He can't talk the price of his players down or they have bank guarantees of outside investment; TBH is obviously on his way and can go with a bit of pride, I wonder how missed - if at all- Lawrence or Kitson would be.

The nearer we get to the end of January without the sniff of a new owner the more nervous i'll get. Getting rid of anyone is bad news for us, but not being able to replace anyone scares the heck out of me. We create little and convert even less, Don't really want to think too much about the end of the month.

Strikes me Appy is as much in the dark about it as Tony Adams was when he thought he'd be able to spend any money that came in from player sales . . . I'm tempted to say that someone should explain the situation but who? Lampitt is probably just as much in the dark. So who he should ask . . . the owner???
