Thompson signed?

With continue 'uncertainty' surrounding Pompey - with 'limited funds' to keep us afloat for the next month or so - departures in the coming weeks are something we would expect.

Arrivals?

Well, limited if any would have been our expectations...

Although sky sports today 'understands' that the highly rated Dan Thompson, following a recent trial, is 'on the brink' of signing with a deal to bring the striker in from Hampton & Richmond close.

Appy had previously, just earlier this week I think, expressed 'doubts' over the possibility of signing him but sky sports say: 'the highly-rated forward has attracted interest from several clubs, including Premier League quartet Liverpool, Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City.

'Crystal Palace had also taken a look at Thompson, but Pompey are now on the brink of clinching his signature.

'Skysports.com revealed last month that the Championship club were favourites to land Thompson and he subsequently impressed manager Michael Appleton on trial.

'Former West Brom assistant Appleton is busy trying to put his own stamp on the Pompey squad ahead of the January transfer window.
'

Time will tell if sky sports 'understand' correctly...

Personally..I would read what is NOT written, and that could be two things...let me elaborate; initially i thought that this signals that there is a buyer in place, and can guarentee the lads wages..and a youth development being put in place etc alls well at PFC sort of thing however I could this signal as the initial step in jetisoning the regular pro's and back filling with eager new talent such as Thompson getting games to guarentee exposure and experiance by playing for a relagation bound 10 point deducted Pompey side in the championship, on contract that allows him to leave on any offers above say ..i dont know..a £1m?..or it could be..as it says.
