Down again but as ever not out!

Down again but as ever not out!

Another 'new dawn' under CSI was meant to come, but like so many before them - an amount that you almost cannot keep track with, especially in the past 2-3-years - this has proven another false dawn for Portsmouth Football Club, the staff, the coaching and management, the city of Portsmouth and of course us the fans...

Do these people not realise what they are doing to all, do they even care?

It seems that you have to have a shady background to run this club, and one half of the ownership at least has not let us down with a fraud charge, which could bring him 10-years imprisonment, a prospect that Vladimir Antonov faces!

CSI pretty much are no more as they moved into administration this week, although it is said that first steps to this actually came last week - on, or around, the same time that we were being told it was 'business as usual.'

What a crock of, well you know what!

The ironic thing is that such a statement is not far from the truth is it as we are now faced with a situation again that pretty much is 'the norm'...

Finally we have found a 'catchphrase' to replace Storrieteller's 'we will take you to another level', the 'business as usual' line rolls off the tongue easier too!

Lets face it the warning signs were very much there when CSI first came in.

Although it was hoped that these reservations a number shared would be proven wrong, and as such a large number of us started to think that we could invest our trust in the owners again...

Alas, once again this football club has been massively let down by those that promised they would not and this could, maybe not in the 'short-term' but most definitely in the 'medium-long-term' leave us teetering on the brink once more.

So, business as usual then!

It is not just CSI that have let us down, and I have little doubt that a decent number of people within the CSI make-up have been let down too, but the football league once more have made fundamental mistakes, errors that surely they should not be making and 'supposedly' after they had implemented new measures to ensure they would not?

Well, they have cocked up here so lets see them hold their hands up to this one and acknowledge their shortcomings eh!

CSI genuinely did 'appear' to be making some steps forward with some good moves being made but ultimately they have failed us, let us down and threatened our very existence like a long line of previous owners over the years.

As fed up with the whole situation as I am, and as much as I must confess a large part of me cannot help but think maybe it would be better if it just all ended now and we started a fresh, because that almost seems to be the only way I can see us ridding ourselves of all the evil that has poisoned the club, fight on we will!

This is Portsmouth Football Club we are talking about and we will not roll over and we will not give up, as disheartening as things have become once again, and they very well could become even more disillusioning in the New Year, and as easy as it could be to become apathetic we will do, even if it is hard to muster that energy and enthusiasm to do so, what Pompey fans do best...

Fight on and do our best to support and help this club!

From the OS: "Portsmouth Football Club (2010) Limited – the company that operates PFC – is not in administration and continues to trade. The club has funding in place for the short term, but will now be seeking alternative investment for its longer-term requirements". Perhaps it's not all doom and gloom.

after the 'short-term' tho blue if another new owner is not found then we know what the outcome will be again but like i say we fight on regardless it is the pompey way even if you almost want to 'give up'.

Good luck with that line PFC Blue, Now all you need is a Russian Billionaire to bale you out! Seriously, don’t look for ‘glimmers’ of hope. Take the deduction, sell the big earners, get yourself and academy, grow some players, and then you might have some self respect and with a bit of luck you might play second fiddle to Saints in league 1. See you in a couple of week :)

after i heard about all this carp i had a chat with my gooner flat mate. we both agree that british football is completely and utterly rotten from the top down. the fa are only concerned with england national team (which are full of prima donnas that have no passion anymore) and they are bitchslapped by the premier league who must basically bung the fa into submission so they get all the rules they want. the fa/football leagues FAPP test is just a complete joke - one has to ask if there is much point in a system... i have money and ive never been to jail or currently have a CCJ order against me. does this mean im a FAPP? in their eyes I presume yes! i think the thing that angers/disappoints me most is that we were teetering on the edge of existence as a club. we have been in the spotlight for so many reasons. there was so much negativity towards the club when the CVA was agreed and the judge (thankfully) judged against HMRC. and if we are completely honest with ourselves I feel sorry for the clubs that we owed money to. if we were a club owed money to, there is an impact to available finance. Coming back to my point of rotten football. Here's the thing. Hardly ANY club in british football makes a GENUINE PROFIT each year. All these clubs are basically on borrowed money to the hilt and then monies transferred between the owners other companies keeps the clubs afloat. To me this means that no-one is a FAPP! Let's say you win the euromillions jackpot (£100m)... would you buy pompey? How much could you buy pompey for now? Technically £1 - although if chanrai takes his second charge then possibly £10m? I'm guessing but stick with me! How much money would it take to make pompey a sustainable entity and profit generating club? We desperately need a training facility/academy/redevloped ground. You could spend £60m on most of that and then you still have ongoing costs. I just dont think british football is sustainable in the slightest. It's become a marketing platform for the high and mighty and super-rich to gain celebrity status. I feel sick to the stomach with all this - I thought we had put it behind us. I think this time though I can sense the negativity from fans already. I can put this into a metaphor of a relationship. We started off well (prem/fa cup/europa) then things werent so rosy, then we found out she cheated (admin) we almost broke up (liquidation) but we thought we would give it once last chance (cva/chanrai) we tried to start afresh (csi/sold expensive players/bought cheaps, loanees and freebies) only to find out she's been cheating on us all along (csi admin). so now where? you would say break up for sure. It pains me to say this but let's stop this mess now - stop airing a dirty laundry and start afresh - but let's make this a SUPPORTER RUN CLUB and make it sustainable. I don't care about the prem anymore, feck em and the fa and the football league. let's start at the bottom and enjoy watching FOOTBALL after all I heard it is a sport and not a business! I'd like to think we would be "happy" in the lower divisions with real players who want to play for the club and not for their weekly salaries. I'd also offer appy the job as manager - he could really prove himself in lower divisions and learn a lot. I'll assume those of you who have read this far will probably disagree with my argument entirely but any feedback much appreciated. I dont often write much these days and so apologies for length, I think I've had enough of this carp. Let's not embarrass ourselves anymore. A points deduction is almost immenent relegation. Let's stop the pain and end it! AFC Portsmouth!!

I actually feel sad that such a club as yours, with it's history, could be in this mess yet again. Says a lot for the way that Antonov passed the fit person test. Good luck but please don't take it out on us when we meet.

i read it all pessimist and few could disagree with many of your views i would say - i used to live and breath football, i loved it completely but in many ways i cannot stand it, have not 'really' enjoyed following pompey for a few years (nope not because we were no long 'good' but because of all the rubbish surrounding us) but do it almost out of habit, abit like a zombie or something i am just drawn to it...
i struggle to see how we can continue as a going concern really, we are losing money and still owe money, what - apart from the fans - do we have to offer a buyer, that does not want to use us for money laundering or any other crook? not alot really so i think more and more would agree with you that 'starting afresh' is the only way to rid us of this but we fight until its certain there is no future.
30/11/2011 14:24:00
Rug explain why it's the FL's fault pls; don't get that assertion. Again I reiterate also that at the moment the club isn't in Admin and that result is no foregone conclusion.
30/11/2011 14:29:00
who were the ones that classed antonov as 'fit and proper' russ?
yep, the football league...
30/11/2011 14:43:00
thanks for the feedback rug! yeah we fight to the death - unless we know that will be the outcome anyway! russ - we are funded/owned by CSI and they are in administration - so unless someone buys CSI then how we will continue being financed? we are not generating profits (as far as I'm aware) and as admin andy said we are still a going concern but its not as if we have assets that can be stripped this time (with exception of the stadium). I'm sick of talking about Portsmouth FC as a business and not as Portsmouth FC as a football club. Yes, you can argue both are the same - but you get my point. We are on this site because we support the footballing part of the club. I would like to follow AFC Wimbledon's approach - they are an exciting team to watch in terms of their progress and they are all about the football!
30/11/2011 16:23:00
Question is, how long before AFC Wimbledon go the same way as the old crazy gang?
