Glorious night seems a lifetime ago!

Glorious night seems a lifetime ago!

It is amazing to think that as the dust settles on a 1-1 nopower championship draw with Leicester, and a storm cloud brews over our latest ownership issues, that the famous night with Milan in the uefa cup was a mere 3-years ago today...

At 1-0 up on that Fratton evening, in front of the watching world, we were in dreamland at 2-0 it was heaven. Yep, Milan eventually fought back to draw 2-2 when Ronaldinho came on to change the game but what a night eh!

The 'Tony Adams blue and white army' chant still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, it even brings a tear to my eye as that was Pompey support as its very best!

Given all the turmoil that this club has seen in the ensuing years this seems an absolute eternity ago, or is it just me that thinks this about this game and so many of the highlight moments from recent history?

Well, for me, this game hardly seems as recently as 3-years ago anyway.

These years have been, as they say here in the westcountry, 'a long old poke' since - and given our current predicament could be still - but whatever happens now moments in history such as this will always be special and hold a place in my heart...

Oh how much has changed in those 3 years. It seems like a different world. The last of the great nites. Unforgettable, just a shame we didn't win it.

The rot was just starting to kick in about then, HR had departed a couple of weeks before as the storm clouds gathered, but it goes down as THE best game I have witnessed in 32 years of football at Fratton Park!
