Just when it seemed we could finally start to seriously look to put the past goings on with PFC behind us, and look forward to what promised to be a brighter future, and still could be of course, something rears its ugly head again.
There may be nothing in it, there possibly could be, as it stands literally no one knows the score...
You may well have seen the 'reports' starting to filter through, and grow, about the Lithuanian government taking over Bankas Snoras AB, over fears it could become insolvent?
You may also have seen that 1 billion litai ($392 million) of assets from the lender are 'unaccounted for'...
What does any of this have to do with Pompey you might ask?
Well, Snoras is '68.1% owned' by one of our co-owners Vladimir Antonov!
Has the means to one of his main sources of finance gone, in which case how does this impact on PFC as a club?
Only time will tell in this I guess...
A Bloomberg article I notice also said this about Antonov: 'Antonov was barred from investing in Sweden's Saab Automobile AB in July by the European Investment Bank, which didn't give a reason for its decision.
'The U.K's Financial Services Authority denied Snoras permission to operate in Britain because the bank's executives withheld information, calling the tactic "an ongoing pattern of behaviour by institutions controlled by Mr. Antonov" in a February 2009 statement.'
There is always something with Pompey, and our owners, isn't there...
Like I say quite what happens next, and quite if there is anything to worry about or if anything has been done wrong, is not known?
It is easy to jump on the bandwagon and 'fear the worse' but this is not always something you have to do, although burying your head in the sand and 'ignoring' such stories will do little will it.
Of course PFC have done nothing wrong here, it is just a shame we cannot just have a club that runs smoothly and is not brought in the public eye for any other reason than what we do as a club on, or indeed off, the pitch as an entity.
Lets just hope that a drama can, for once, pass Pompey by...
