'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Here we go again?

Just when it seemed we could finally start to seriously look to put the past goings on with PFC behind us, and look forward to what promised to be a brighter future, and still could be of course, something rears its ugly head again.

There may be nothing in it, there possibly could be, as it stands literally no one knows the score...

You may well have seen the 'reports' starting to filter through, and grow, about the Lithuanian government taking over Bankas Snoras AB, over fears it could become insolvent?

You may also have seen that 1 billion litai ($392 million) of assets from the lender are 'unaccounted for'...

What does any of this have to do with Pompey you might ask?

Well, Snoras is '68.1% owned' by one of our co-owners Vladimir Antonov!

Has the means to one of his main sources of finance gone, in which case how does this impact on PFC as a club?

Only time will tell in this I guess...

A Bloomberg article I notice also said this about Antonov: 'Antonov was barred from investing in Sweden's Saab Automobile AB in July by the European Investment Bank, which didn't give a reason for its decision.

'The U.K's Financial Services Authority denied Snoras permission to operate in Britain because the bank's executives withheld information, calling the tactic "an ongoing pattern of behaviour by institutions controlled by Mr. Antonov" in a February 2009 statement.'

There is always something with Pompey, and our owners, isn't there...

Like I say quite what happens next, and quite if there is anything to worry about or if anything has been done wrong, is not known?

It is easy to jump on the bandwagon and 'fear the worse' but this is not always something you have to do, although burying your head in the sand and 'ignoring' such stories will do little will it.

Of course PFC have done nothing wrong here, it is just a shame we cannot just have a club that runs smoothly and is not brought in the public eye for any other reason than what we do as a club on, or indeed off, the pitch as an entity.

Lets just hope that a drama can, for once, pass Pompey by...

If the bank was a limited company which I am sure it is then where is the risk to Pompey? limited company owners and directors means the owners have limited liability. It is unlikely that a foreign asset can be attacked for recovery also FL/PL rules prevent English clubs being affected by foreign ownership liabilities - other than player contracts- and it seems Pompey is owned by CSI uk not Snoras AB. Three things spring to mind, 1 could the club be put up for sale again- its possible but I still think the owners are looking at a long term strategy including property development, the second point is how will this news affect the players; third and perhapse most important is the fact that once again the club is linked with negative financial news, to be carried on in Jan 11 when Harry, Milan and presumably Storrie shortly after unless of course the growing thought he's turned QE turns out to be true.

Perception is more powerful than reality. That's what makes it a worry

Hopefully a statement will come out from Convers to assure us, if Antonov was prosecuted in anyway that would really stuff us, makes the fit and proper system seem laughable once though!

Does anyone know how much of Antonov's cash is tied up here? No. Does anybody know if the bank is in danger of losing money, if so, how much? No. If the bank goes bust does it have an impact on the funding of CSI? Who knows? Is it something we can do anything about? No. Was this article worthwhile? No. RussM what will the players think? Lol. Calm down and get back to reality please.

Liquor and Poker, I'm not sure where your at- maybe its the first part of your name which is giving a clue. I don't think I'm scare mongering by asking a question? No. I think I'm just asking a sensible question. Have I said there is an issue other than perception? No. Did I say that the companies are likely to be separately limited? Yes . Maybe take your own advice fellah - sorry dear.

Liquor...From where i'm sat, it's not Antonov's cash everyone is worried about; it's a little Bank he happens to be the major shareholder in that's causing the concern...And that is a tad more worrying. Sorry did I sat Bank's money? Silly me!...Completely missed the concept of Bank's money...Haha so did everyone else

My ONLY Concern as they will be separate liabilities is that the club has a poor rep with certain players like Herman and Rocha and Ward etc who were put through the mangle last time - the negative financial press is a but disheartening though.
