Razak has more to offer

Razak has more to offer

Injury forced Liam Lawrence to miss the Forest win and the man, well kid really as he is barely a man, that replaced him against Forest was Abdul Razak.

On the evidence of that showing I cannot say that the Man City man will keep Lawro out.

That said right midfield is not Razak's position and Guy Whittingham, talking recently, knows this: 'Razak's not used to that position on the right but he did okay. He is a young lad learning his trade but you can see some of his quality.'

I think 'he did okay' best sums up his performance really...

Right midfield is not Razak's position, although nor do I think it is Lawro's strongest position anymore either, with both more suited to central roles but out of the two Lawro would be the best option.

Razak did show some good touches and played a few fantastic defence splitting passes so there is ability there, this just needs to be used in the right way and on the right side of midfield is not that.

A central role, perhaps with a little freedom, is where I would think we would see the teenager shine - and I do hope he does get another chance as he has unquestionable ability that it would be good to see us benefit from...

I thought Razak showed a touch of class tbh and I think he will be good news for Pompey - so that's the kibosh on his career then. On current form I think Rugs mum should keep Lawrence out of the team, lots of head down running and of the mark shooting but he's not interested in the team perspective and doesn't seem to be able to see the big picture. I fully expect him to be with Potty Cottey by the end of the May 12. ; if not Jan 12

Lol I've got high hopes that Rugs mum could be the 10+ goal scoring midfielder we need :-)

Tbh I thought Razak showed his inexperience and looked pressured, but I would like to see him given more time to settle as for right midfield why don't we play our own 18 year old Williams in that position!?

Maybe he has got a lot to offer, but just maybe the new manager wants to see what his own players can do rather than a loanee? I mean, even if he realised he could never break into City's first team (witness Sturridge), joining us permanently wouldn't be an option he would consider would it?

Solving that goalie quandary

I'm not sure our problem with finding a 'regular' no.1 last season was behind our failure to gain promotion from league two was it? Clearly it didn't help mind.

Pompey's attacking intent

Something Pompey (attacking intent) will look to show next season to get out of league two once and for all. Smith came in from Swindon last week but Cookie wants another striker.
