As far as the Michael Appleton appointment goes an increasing number of media outlets were reporting that he would be named as our manager today.
Both sky sports and The News 'understood' that he had met with the players and would be unveiled later today - both of these two are claiming to have 'exclusively revealed' that he had become Pompey's no.1 target.
The one that, for me, had most credibility is BBC Sport, and they too 'believed' this to be the case and were also saying that this was going to be the case with a 3-½-year contract contact signed.
Of course until it was official on The Pompey Site this was not the case but we now know that our manager search has come to an end with his appointment officially confirmed minutes ago.
Welcome to Pompey Appy and best of luck to you, it is a 'risk' but hopefully it has been a well thought out and calculated one that will benefit us in the long-term.
The way I see it, perhaps he would not have been the first choice for a large number, but given his 'reputation' he is someone that will do a decent job for us and is almost certainly an appointment with a long-term plan in mind - many other names mentioned would 'probably' have been nothing more than a stepping stone or short-term option, given the ages of some linked.
Given time, patience and baking, there is every chance that both Appy and PFC can grow together and move forward, right?
So, all that is left to say is 'Michael Appleton's blue and white army.'

granted OGS has been managing in norway for almost a year but appy has been involved in coaching, and working his was forward, for the best part of a decade and unlike OGS - and some other candidates - has actually managed in the premier league, albeit for a short caretaker spell. he made the final list of candidates to become west brom manager!
of course OGS is a bigger name and known throughout europe, and the world, but no one can say that appy will do any worse - or better for that matter - so lets see.
like i say tho i am fairly optimistic about this and am hopeful that this appointment can see PFC and appy grow together with a LONG-TERM appointment in mind here, and long-term is something we need to look for...
