Pompey's player of the month for October was...

The votes have been cast, counted and verified so we now know that the player of the month for October, as voted for by you the Vital Pompey viewers, was Luke Varney.

Having collected MOTM wins in the games against Barnsley and Ipswich, well he shared the one against Ipswich, he finished in or around the top 3 in the others games we played that month.

If anyone was left in an doubt as to how much he has become an important member of the 1st team then we found out when he was suspended - since his return he has not only continued to give 100%, with tireless running and enthusiasm, he also chipped in with a few goals in October.

Many would argue that Varney is a 'poor mans' Dave Nugent, although to be honest I know which one I would prefer - and this one is without a shadow of a doubt on less money than the other would have been!

Occasionally he seems to switch off but Tal-Ben Haim had another impressive month and quite rightly came in just behind Varney, had he won the poll could many have had too much complaint?

Keep performing the way you are TBH and I have little doubt that you will see yourself back in the premier league in January...

He might have finished some way back but I think that some credit is due for Stephen Henderson. The guy has come into the team as the no.1 and apart from the odd mishap, usually minor, he has looked solid in goal and seems to instil a good amount of confidence in the defenders in front of him.

Keep playing the way you are Hendo and an Irish call-up is not out of the question, right?

PLEASE NOTE: Only those that picked up a Vital Pompey 'man of the match' wins and/or came in the top 3 of these polls were considered for the player of the month award.

The way I see it you can only be in contention for this if people thought you were among the standout performers in games played.

What the poll asked - Top MOTM scorers but who was player of the month for October?

How you voted - Varney 48%, Ben-Haim 40%
Henderson 6%, Kitson 2%, Norris 2%, Rocha 2%, Mullins 0%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded - you know what to do, right?

Leave you thoughts below please guys...
