'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pompey's October player of the month?

Lets take a break from the 'manager talk' for a while and talk about actions that have actually taken place on the pitch, and just how impressive they have been?

Well, looking over the polls that were run for these games against Barnsley, Ipswich, Doncaster and Derby in October we can see who the readers on Vital Pompey have as the 'standout' performers in these games as we look to find the player of the month for October.

From each of these games the names that finished in the top 3 have been included in the final poll...

Pompey 2-0 Barnsley
The MOTM was Luke Varney (30%), with the returning Rocha John Rocha runner-up with 22%. Finishing in 3rd was Chuck (19%), who opened the scoring that day in arguably his best game for us.

As such these three secured their place in the poll.

Ipswich 1-0 Pompey
Despite losing we gave what was probably our best performance of the season, almost without a doubt our best away showing, and arguably in a long time! The MOTM was Norris (30%), well technically he shared this with Varney (30%) and coming in 3rd was Stephen Henderson with 9%.

Varney and Chuck were already in the poll, Henderson added his name to the list.

Pompey 3-1 Doncaster
The MOTM in the 3-1 win by a country mile was Tal Ben-Haim (55%), followed by the impressive - once again - Varney (16%) who scored a brace with Kitson's 15% seeing him come in 3rd.

Ben-Haim and Kitson added their names to the list as well, Varney was already there.

Derby 3-1 Pompey
A game that is best forgotten! Well certainly the first half hour or so but the MOTM in this was Henderson with 35%. Perhaps he was lucky not to see red, but he stayed on and but for him the scoreline could have been double figures! Abdul Razak came on for a cameo and his 33% sub showing saw him finish runner-up with Mullins in 3rd with 29%.

Razak's 20-minute cameo, even if it was good, was hardly enough to get included in a player of the month poll was it so he was left out but Mullins got his name included.

So, there we have it the standout performers for PFC during October, as voted by the Vital Pompey members, were:

Tal Ben-Haim
Stephen Henderson
Dave Kitson
Hayden Mullins
Chuck Norris
Rocha John Rocha
Luke Varney

All of these are now in the running to be crowned the player of the month!

Make sure you cast your vote, and why not share a few thoughts below as well...
