'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Baby faced assassin' Solskjaer for Pompey?

Former Manyoo striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is 'a target for Portsmouth.'

This is according to The Sun anyway - although just because The Sun says it is hardly makes it true!

The Mail, with their 'rumours round-up' picked up on this saying that he 'is the No 1 choice for the Portsmouth hot seat.'

Looking into things a little more on t'internet The Sun went as far as 'claiming' that co-owner Vladimir Antonov 'flew to Norway last night in a bid to convince the former Manchester United striker to become boss.'

He has been doing the business in his homeland with Molde as their manager since leaving Manyoo, where he was reserve manager after retiring. By all accounts he has taken to management very well and would have learned a thing or two from Fergie I am sure, which all helps.

This would be out of keeping with what David Lampitt said we were looking for in our new manager, although he does have experience of English football at least - then again Lampitt did also cover all bases to make sure he was covered regardless as to what happened...

Oh, never one to miss out 'a source' apparently one 'claims' that OGS would be interested in returning to England to manage - could it be with us?!

Well, quite how much truth this has remains to be seen but 'if' this did happen it would be a total bolt from the blue!

I've been wondering whether the rumour mill has it completely wrong, and the owners are going to pull a completely different name out of the hat that noone has thought of - possibly a foreigner, and this could be it. Especially if its true about Antonov flying out to Norway . . .
tracyc
certainly is a 'bolt from the blue' name altho doubt there is much truth to it as it is in the sun - who only thursday, or was it friday, said that dave jones was going to be the manager for sure?!
'if' there is any truth whatsoever to it at least it would show that CSI are not afraid to take a chance on a young up and coming manager, which can pay off - of course it can bomb horribly too.
would not be opposed to this at all, think he would have good contacts and could bring in some decent players without spending a fortune but do not htink it is that likely to come off, but time will tell...

Wheres Bilic right now? Think he could do a job for us?
moley2
just been on RB-Net site which is the newspaper local to Molde and the fact that Antonov was there yesterday to speak to Ole Gunnar is on the front page

I had a feeling they would surprise us, so maybe there is some truth in it, he would certainly have the players respect. im sure eric would love to have him here.

having plumped for Davies-Jones and O'Driscoll all along..i did state initially -like Tracy- that they would probablyend up going for a unknown foreigner..well OSG is hardly unknown...but like tracy..I think CSI are the types to suprise us.. PUP-PPU

So much for getting a manager with proven experience at this level.

Is story about OGS a RED Herring, or could he be a Blue Turbot?
