Pompey predictions league update #11

The Pompey predictions league continued in midweek with Pompey slipping to a 1-0 defeat at Ipswich.

It might have been an unfortunate defeat, that we did not deserve, but if you do not take your chances this is what happened - Ipswich can testify to that from last season.

A few picked up points for correctly predicting the result, with 3 members getting maximum points!

PompeyFrippy, jsander48 and uspompeyfan all collected 14pts each, the latter of the 3 - of course the defending champion - has now climbed up into 3rd behind the aforementioned others...

This means that PompeyFrippy retains top spot for an 11th game running on 60pts overall.

This is how the table, of 46 at present, currently stands:

Still all to play for and these points collected by some this time round shows how quickly things can change.

And one other thing. Not a dig, just needs clarification. If three get a maximum 14 pts and didnt have to get any goal scorers. How come several of us got the 1-1 Cardiff score correct and yet only got 4pts? that doesnt seem fair somehow...

The 10pt bonus only comes in if you get the goalscorer right, which I assume was not the case against cardiff? Will check your total and amend

No i didnt get the goal scorer. I see what you mean and it's a difficult one, as a 1-0 get 14pts and you dont have to name a goalscorer. Think i might just go for the odd 1-0 away loss, a good way to pick up 14pts!! Just like Formula 1 when they shook up the pts system. I think it needs a shake up. You get say a win right and get 2pts, You get a score spot on but no goal scorers and get 4pts. Get a 1-0 away loss and get 14pts, and you havent had to get a scorer...Doesn't seem like a fair break down to me, they didn't have to pick a goal scorer to pick up maximum points and yet get as many as some poor so n so who could have picked the three goalscorers in a 3-2 away win, and that's the reward they get. God i'm sounding sad!

Will look into things but cannot really change the set-up mid season. Always open to new ideas tho so fire them away...for next season lol

Penton I know what you mean the top three pick up all there bonus points when Pompey don't score, But as Rug say's to late to do it mid season, maybe tweek next season no bonus on when Pompey don't score, then the top 3 would not be the same.

Good luck Ben!

In an ideal world Davies would have agreed a new deal and stayed with Pompey next season but Grimsby have been able to offer him the stability of a two-year deal we couldn't.

Versatile former Arsenal man in on trial?

Deacon, who started out with Arsenal has been with Stevenage and Crawley with the latter releasing him at the end of last season. Cookie will 'run the rule' over him in pre-season?
