'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What happened to...

Steve Finnan?

To be honest with you, given his track record with injuries when we signed him, I was hardly 'jumping for joy' when he eventually came in from Espanyol - he had been sidelined for the majority of his time in Spain after leaving Liverpool.

That said there was the 'possibility' Finnan could have proven to be a decent, dare I say it, inspired signing by Paul Hart...

It was soon pretty obvious that this would not be the case as minutes into his debut in a pre-season tournament in Guimarăes little was done to push forward his claims as he broke down with a hamstring injury!

He showed his moments for us, and to be fair was once a top quality full back at club and international level, but when his contract expired and he was released could anyone say that they were surprised, or even overly disappointed?

Since his release, what a couple of summers ago, I have absolutely no idea what has happened to this footballer who had his career, the latter part of it anyway, decimated by injury...

I assume that he retired, then again maybe not?

So, does anyone know what came of Steve Finnan after his departure from Pompey?

Leave some thoughts below...

I thought that overall he did quite well for us, we certainly looked better when he was in the team.
