Saints' 'bubble match' visit to Fratton

With scum's visit to Fratton likely to be a 'bubble match', chances are the same will happen to us at St Mary's - you have a chance to 'try' and get things changed at an FSF evening.

Saints fans are starting to realise how difficult it's going to be to get to Fratton Park for the game in December. It appears its going to be a 'bubble' match, that means they MUST travel by coach; in fact their match tickets will only be handed out on the coach. When you've finished laughing - think on!

If it happens to them, it will almost certainly happen to us! If it happens when we play them, will they introduce it for other games - Millwall perhaps or Cardiff?

If you can get to Portsmouth tomorrow (Thursday) evening the FSF Watching Football Is Not A Crime event (here) at the Rifle Club, Goldsmith Ave. is an ideal opportunity to come along and ask questions.

The panel includes Supt. Rick Burrows who runs the policing of St Marys and Fratton Park and Alan Kerslake, the Chair of the south west region of the Football Safety Officers Association who happens to be SO at Cardiff City who have experienced 34 'bubble' games.

The evening is being hosted by Alan McLoughlin of Pompey fame and Saints fame.

Admission is free and if you pre-register then the first drink is free as well!

it might not impact on us directly at this point in time - and perhaps will not anyone individually at anytime - but collectively as PFC fans, and football fans in general, this can...
football is expensive enough as it is, if you have to factor in getting to a meeting place that is not convienient to you to be forced to travel via coaches only this adds yet more money to the costs. if scum have it happen to them it will almost certainly happen to us later in the season, and as mentioned possiblity in other games for us down the line?
if you can make this event i think it is well worth going, a couple of hours of your time is worth it i would say...

So what happens ifyou live near or are staying near the ground, but support the away side, does this mean yu have to travel to where the coach is to get yr ticket? very bizarre
khodgkins
Yes read this yesterday on one of their websites. Some of the scummers are naturally moaning already, especially those that don't live in the city. My initial thought were that Hampshire police will insist on it happening when we go to there place.
storagematt
that is exactly what it means khodgkins, wherever the coach is is the meeting point you have to go to to collect this ticket, and then travel on that coach to the ground...
so, if a scummer lives in pompey, 5-minutes from fratton they will have to go to scum just to come bac - likewise for any of us who might be unfortunate enough to live near st mary's for the return journey...
pompeyrug
Hampshire police on late news last night were quoted as the same will happen for the return match, also Scum are charging £12 for the coach!

12 quid for the coach???? that's more than their teams worth!!

Imagine making a Manchester United away game a bubble game!! Where would the coaches start from? As we all know United fans don't live on Manc but in Guildford and such places!

Get to the FSF meet tomorrow and have YOUR say to those who make the decisions.

This happened with Burnley and Blackburn when they played in the Prem a couple of years ago. There's a good story about a Burnley fan who lived by Ewood Park and had to travel to Turf Moor in order to get the coach and his match ticket to get into the game. As usual, a few idiots mean that these measures are put in place.
