40 applicants but Jones not in the running?

40 applicants but Jones not in the running?

An earlier 'Tweet' by The News' Neil Allen has now been followed up with an article in The News today that 'seems' to rule the early favourite, and someone that plenty of 'rumour' and even 'tip offs' had down as a strong candidate to become the next Pompey manager...

So, Dave Jones it aint, it would seem at this point in time?

He has told The News that he is 'flattered' by the links be he has 'had no contact with the club whatsoever' and it 'definitely wasn't him' at Fratton at the weekend and 'that is all he wants to say really.'

The News 'understands' that Jones is not even under consideration as it would be too costly employing him and his coaching staff...

I think it is 'probably' too early to say this is definitely the case as he is hardly going to say too much at this point in time although it would 'appear' that the early pace setter will now fall back into the field...

I know someone who will be revelling in this news, mentioning no names - but you know who you are :-)

Once again Guy Whittingham has reiterated that he does not want the job, so we can 'rule him out' anyway!

At this point in time there are 'said' to be no fewer than 40 people interested in the job, it is now just a case of separating the wheat from the chaff and then drawing up a short-list, maybe this will be ready by the weekend maybe not?

According to what sky sports 'understands' at the moment Karl Robinson and Nigel Worthington are 'early contenders' with Sean O'Driscoll and Billy Davies also possibilities...

He could of course be lying through his teeth .. as was said to me at lunchtime.. can not understand why he is not in the running as it was defo him at FP on Saturday as sooo many people have told me ... I think this is a smokescreen and he is on his way as we speak .. I do, of course, Jest !

Lee Clark if we are looking for an up and coming manager, Jones/Coppell if we want experience. Whatever a big decision by CSI which will demonstrate their true aspirations for PFC.

DW- Chances are he was interviewed on saturday, told ther was not much money in the pot..and he politely decided to wait for a better opportunity...and then left the ground before the camara's arrived.. If Milan was in charge he would then appoint the worse possible choice on the grounds that he had a good record at some club 4 years ago..if Gaydamak was in charge his dad would employ the cheapest option..with CSI in charge....who knows..so far they have appeared OK..so for me it could be anyone...but please not Ince-Worthy-Coleman..or some other journeyman...Davies or O'Driscoll, would be fine..Eddie Howe would be better

welcome to vital pompey steve, good to have a newbie onboard - hope you join us for 'match day live' during the game?
CSI play their cards very close to their chest dont they so chances are we genuinely will only know what is happening when it happens?
like chixy said in the forum at this point in time i do not have much of a clue as to who it will be - i was 'pretty sure' it would be jones, but this now seems unlikely...
who would you like?
