Guy Whittingham, as he told sky sports, has 'ruled himself out' of the running to become our next manager.
When asked the question in the post-match interview he said: 'no, not interested. We just want to make sure that the team prepares for the games, however many games there may be.
'I love being a coach and I don't want the stress of being a manager. I have a nice family life and I want to keep it that way.'
So, that is one half of the caretaker duo ruling himself out - it does not mean that Stuart Gray might not want it though?
To be honest I am not sure that he will get it, maybe he will not even want it. I would not be overly surprised if he did eventually go to Forest anyway...
Whittingham might be 'out of the running' but according to sky sports, and what they 'understand' Karl Robinson and Nigel Worthington are 'contenders' for the job at Fratton.
Robinson, I know not to everyone's liking, is someone that I would be happy with as his style of play would be really good but he will not get enough of a chance by many I reckon and I do not think CSI would take that inexperienced route - Worthington, nice bloke and has a 'decent' record, but I am not so sure if he is the one I would like.
By all accounts Aidy Boothroyd - who I think was in the sky studio as one of the 'expert pundits' - seems 'keen' and 'rumours' are saying that Dave Jones, who I can safely say will get heavy abuse from some quarters but he could do the job without a doubt, was at Fratton yesterday?
People are interested though with David Lampitt, talking to The News, already admitting as much with a 'short-list' in place: 'we have to look after the best interests of Portsmouth Football Club. We've already drawn up a short-list of names to replace Steve.
'Now we've got a proper process to go through to identify the key targets for us. We're not going to rush it because it's such an important decision for the club and the club's future.
'We want to find the right candidate - someone who reflects the ambition of the club and the ambition of the owners.
'We were working on names straight away. I've had quite a few people get in touch already.
'It's no surprise there's been a lot of people calling with all the speculation out there. It's a good reflection of where we've got the club to that people want to come and manage here.'
Whatever the next move is, as I have already said recently, it is a big move and it is important that we get this right and look to make an appointment that does have a 'long-term' view in mind...
WOTS - Apparently Dave Jones and Billy Davies have been approached about the job with Karl Robinson also 'sounded out'.
Any of these would do me.
