'Happy' Riise keen to stay

'Happy' Riise keen to stay

You would hardly expect him to say anything other, although - as he told The Pompey Site - Bjorn Helge Riise is 'hopeful' that he can 'stay at Pompey for longer.'

His loan ends in November but 'playing his part' is something that he wants to do in the meantime and then, as he is 'enjoying' his time at Fratton, he would be open to staying longer: 'hopefully I can play my part while I'm here.

'I want to do as well as possible during my time at Pompey and help the club climb the table.

'I want to play as many games as I can while I'm here. The only way I'm going to do that is by offering something on the pitch.

'If I can do that then hopefully I can stay at Pompey for longer, because I'm enjoying my time here.'

With the Fulham man arriving on loan when I was away on holiday I am as yet unable to case judgement on him in a Pompey shirt as I have not seen him play for us!

If he is anything like his brother, John Arne, then he cannot be a bad player - that much I could say without seeing him.

So then guys, given the games that he has played so far what it the general opinion of Riise - would you be happy for him to extend his loan, or even possibly be signed permanently in the New Year?

Hello guys! I saw him at the Russian game and the home games he played in. He is a seriously class act! When I first saw him I said to the missis, we need to keep him! He is really good with the ball and works hard down the flank. He may not be up to Premiership standard, but he's excellent here! Of all the signing Cots has made I think Riise is without doubt the best! We just need to keep hold of him. Do you think Fulham would take Kitson as PX?

hi Phill, welcome to vital pompey and thanks for the comment.
being away in corfu i have missed all his games so far but if he can live up to what you have said at all i think i will be one of those 'hoping' we can keep him to - good thing is extending his loan is something he is 'open to' so it is a start...
in the article i said if he was anything like his brother john arne riise then he cannot be bad, so here is hoping.

Cheers Rug! Hope you enjoyed Corfu!! He's not quite as good as his brother but then I remember him from his Liverpool days. He seems to be a little chunkier now? But Baby Riise has loads of talent and I think could be just as good as big brother with the right help!

I'd love it if he could strike a ball like his brother, but I have to agree with you Phill, he does a decent job on the wing and gives us some much needed depth. I worry that he won't get into the team for Saturday's game against Barnsley though. With Varney back I think he and Huselkepp will start ahead of him.

i was in little doubt that he is not as good as his brother, if he was a 'fraction' as good as john arne - at his best - we would not do too bad would we...
look forward to seeing him myself this weekend, assuming he plays?!
oh, and corfu was fantastic thanks Phill - will be glad to get back to the football mind.
