End of the line?

End of the line?

WOTS (word on the street) tells us at Vital Pompey Towers the following: 'Cotterill has had informal discussions (with Forest) only at this time. CSI awaiting formal approach before making a final decision on allowing formal contact.

'It is not known what this means in reality, could be that they are giving Cotterill the chance to make a decision - is feeling the pressure?'

It does seem an odd one at the moment. With some form of 'stand off' seemingly happening?

Either way, speaking personally, I am not sure how much gas is left in the tank as far as the Cotterill and PFC engine goes...

I could be way off mind!

But put it this way if Cotterill is willing to talk to other clubs this suggests that he would move on - is this because he, as WOTS puts it 'feels under pressure' or maybe thinks he has done all he can at PFC. Then again he may view Forest as a better 'long-term' option?

Forest have a tradition as one of England's finest so, as much as we have history and tradition ourselves, they are a massive club so you could see the appeal, right?

Then we have CSI to take into account.

If they are willing to let him talk to other clubs then they are willing to let him leave - is this because they are unsure how much more he can offer, do they have someone else in mind or, and this is unlikely, are they really unwilling to 'stand in his way' of another option?

I retain my thoughts, that I have all along, that I cannot see Forest paying us compensation. So, if this is a factor it is a no-go from the off!

I guess - and this is pure speculation - that a lot would depend on mutual agreements between all parties on this issue for him to potentially leave and take over at The City Ground.

Whatever happens now though, and again these are just my thoughts, I am not sure that there is much way back for him and I am not convinced that he will be our manager for too much longer come what may.

Although all in all, as I often say 'time will tell'...

A close friend of mine who has strong links with Forest board confirmed a conversation has taken place.

Can we swap him for Lewis McGugan?

A couple of crap results and Cotts would be on his way out of here with a large boot imprinted on his behind anyway, so can't blame him for being interested in the Forest job. Good shout on a trade for McGugan :)

Not sure how Zola would do at this level though Bex, could be a good shout but he's a bit unproven so far in his managerial career. Would you prefer him to Cotts?

Kitson's been "ill" though hasn't he NUT? Bit unfair, lol. It does annoy me though seeing what Kitson did for Reading and how he plays now. Or is that just how he's managed??

Done Deal - Free agent Davies arrives

No sooner had I mused the central defensive options wondering would Cookie bring in another have we announced a deal for former Accrington man Tom Davies!

No longer a midfield option

Barton played most of his football for Pompey in central defence. He came to Fratton as a central midfielder but those days are behind him, as far as Cookie is concerned.

On this day in history...1st July

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 1st July.

Good luck Ben!

In an ideal world Davies would have agreed a new deal and stayed with Pompey next season but Grimsby have been able to offer him the stability of a two-year deal we couldn't.
