Pompey Set To Sign ...

Juan Vargas will become Pompey`s third signing when he completes his medical this Friday. A fee has been agreed with his club, Colon De Sanra and they have verbally agreed a deal with the player.

He will apparently fly in Thursday night completing a medical on Friday.

Carlos Delgado, the players agent confirmed a deal had been done;

'We reached an agreement in minutes, it is a verbal agreement that only lacks it in writing,' he said.

'But I trust that everything will be fixed.

'We are very happy because it is a very good opportunity for Vargas.'

He will sign a three year deal and Harry is also hoping to sign Sol Campbell on Friday. Vargas was a target of Man City who where thought to be in negotiations with the players club.

Juan Vargas is a left sided midfield player who will cost Pompey about 1.5 million pounds to sign. Vital Pompey will create a full profile on him.

Sounds like one of Harry's typical foreign signings form his West Ham days! Never heard of him!

I'm sort of new here so hi everyone and also it looks as though Vargas maybe a regular starter next season at left midfield to replace D'alessandro, lets hope he's just as good!

Who ever wrote this story Vargas is a left sided defender as I found out when much research on this kid on the net. This shows Harry is ready to replace Mattys poor defending, as it was at times during the season.

Les i raised the subject of Vargas on one if your earlier theads, and as my spanish isnt that good i asked el bloko who's is. basically the Argentina prerss feel he is very suited to the premiership, apparently very fit. ESPN Americas has him down as a midfielder and depending which santa fe club web site you check he is a midfielder or defender. he is " highly motivated and equally opinionated " the slight worry is that one of his opinions is that "as a Peruvian international he should not have to take medicals", but as i said earlier if he plays as good as he talks we wont care.

I think Matty Taylor has realy come on as a defender so he will not need replacing. We need a left sided player and Vargas apparently fits the bill. With Taylor and Vargas able to play in either defence or midfield, the two can interchange. I do not know much about Vargas (I don't know any El bloko) but I will trust 'Arry's judgement.

Match highlights - Pompey 0-1 Orient

Disappointing as it was, you take the rough with the smooth and cannot gloss over things when they aren't so good so here goes with the 1-0 defeat Pompey suffered against Orient.

Simply not good enough!

Call me a moaner, call me a groaner but if you think the performance against Orient was good enough then I think you're wearing blue tinted specs as that was poor from Pompey.
