Best modern day Pompey no.1?

Best modern day Pompey no.1?

You'll no doubt have seen that Vital is involved with the The Great Football Experiment - I know it is hard not to, but it really is vital (pardon the pun) to Vital that we 'embrace' this, so please do...

Anyway, I wish someone had done this when I used to play, which was not that long ago really before anyone says it!

This video is an example of the coaching they are getting, this is no 'walk in the park' trust me. Specifically this time on the goalie position, lucky old Brad Ayling, aka The Bear. Not only is he getting one on one coaching but due to the training, he's lost 2 stone in weight! When the crowd sing 'who ate all the pies' to him he'll soon be able to sing back, 'not me!'

A few goalies nowadays could do with taking note! We'd love to put a few youtube clips of goalkeeper gaffs here but daren't as we get 'told off' then by dataco! I'm sure you can think of a few though.

So, for Vital Pompey our latest poll asks who has been the best modern day no.1?

I've started from Alan Knight, simply because he was around for so long and I guess a lot on here won't remember beyond him - well old timers like eastneydave and Chixy might, but trust me he was great and I do not use the word lightly, honest! I've included current no.1 Paddy Ashdown, who despite his long history with us before last season he barely got a look-in but has been with us long enough to warrant a mention, right!

In the forum thread, and for article comments here, I guess we can talk the following - and please do...

Best goalkeeper you've seen play for us?
Worst goalkeeper?
And what is the single worst goalkeeping gaff?
Oh and ... ah bugger it, I will put in this clip, the worst miss ever?

Did The Bear take full advantage of all his training? Well, in episode six you can see that he was a naughty Bear..... a few drinks the night before training?! Tut tut, we'd never have done anything like that eh!?

Anyway, you could leave some feedback on our Vital Nivea Great Football Experiment site, I'm finding it a right laugh I must admit. Now then, IF Bear turns up hungover for a game or training again, I think he should get another forfeit. Any good ideas folks?

I think the best one can be put to the Ivory boys to vote on... so suggest away! ... How to beast the Bear... Click Here.

think i know who will win the poll tbh, but think it is 'probably', or should be, tighter than it might be?
also think i know who will be the worst - i know who i think but will wait and see what people think!
gotta say i am not convinced that the ronnie rosenthal miss is the worst ever anymore, is it...

As far as I'm concerned there isn't any question about Pompey's best modern day goalkeeper. The pope's a catholic, a bear poos in the woods, and Jamo is the best. As for the worst, there was that Greek guy . .

I've only seen Jamo in goal for us (and now Ashdown). Jamo's rear was a sight to behold, and I didn't really appreciate it when he was here..... So, for me it has to be Jamo - especially in that lovely pink strip. Knocks spots off of any goalie I've ever seen at FP in the last 4 years, prem or championships.

Match highlights - Pompey 0-1 Orient

Disappointing as it was, you take the rough with the smooth and cannot gloss over things when they aren't so good so here goes with the 1-0 defeat Pompey suffered against Orient.

Simply not good enough!

Call me a moaner, call me a groaner but if you think the performance against Orient was good enough then I think you're wearing blue tinted specs as that was poor from Pompey.
