Pompey player of the month (August)

Which way will you vote in the latest Vital Pompey poll - brought about by your votes on previous polls - as we try to gage who people think should be the Pompey player of the month for August?

What the poll is asking

MOTM winners but who was the player of the month for August?

Which way to vote

Well, the options below are the man of the match winners from the nopower league games with Boro, Brighton, Reading, Bristol City and Cardiff...

Tal Ben-Haim has come back into the Pompey side this season, very much from out in the cold, and more often than not has looked 'the part' in a fullback role.

Is he justifying his 'reported' £38,000 p/w wages?

Well, of course not but he is at least doing something to now earn this money and to be fair doing a 'pretty good job' with it too.

Man of the match performances against Boro (32%, ahead of Chuck 31%) and Cardiff (48%, ahead of Pearce 6%) make him a good bet.

Another option is Aaron Mokoena.

Not 'everyone's' cup of tea by a long shot but he has come back into the side, well he is out of it again now, and been 'solid' enough in a variety of different positions...

A man of the match showing against Brighton (32%, ahead of Williams - who only played 7 minutes - 30%) makes him a contender, be that an outside bet to be brutally honest!

Despite missing games against Boro and Brighton through suspension Jason Pearce has come in for the last 3 league games and in that time we have conceded just the solitary goal...

I am in no way trying to influence people but he has looked fantastic, a defender in the 'John Terry mould' - a good thing from a footballing viewpoint - he has not looked at all out of place and is commanding the defence.

2 out of 3 man of the match wins tends to speak for itself, right?

He gained these against Reading (52%, ahead of Kanu 21%) and Bristol City (53%, ahead of Varney and Kitson on 10% each).

Now guys it is over to you to cast judgement! So make sure you vote on this latest poll to your right, but share your views on this topic with some comments below too...

A good summary Rug .. For me I think the right three are chosen .. Mok WAS good v Brighton and TBH WAS excellent against Cardiff.. But for me Pearce wins by a country mile ... TBH must be second by virtue of the fact he didn't play against Barnet... and Mok did !

I'd go for TBH... everyone had written him over, especially after that fantastic-frantic own-goal against Chelski. He is and was always, one of the best defenders we have at the club. Players aren't bought by Chelsea for nothing!

TBH has been great, but I think Pearce nicks it for me purely on the basis that he has exceed any expectations I had of him. Long may it continue.
