Deadline Day as it happens.
With Pompey sunning themselves in Southern Spain ahead of their friendly with Real Betis in Seville it is thought that it will be a quiet day on the transfer front before the window slams shut at 11pm.
Championship clubs can still loan players after 8 September and that is what I expect Boss Steve Cotterill to do to plug any gaps he sees in his squad. Midfield general/creator we all shout but there are at the moment no rumours about of any impending arrival.
We have already seen the following arrive during the summer -
David Norris - Ipswich Town
Luke Varney - Derby County
Stephen Henderson - Bristol City
Greg Halford - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Erik Huseklepp - Bari
Marko Futacs - Werder Bremen
Jason Pearce - AFC Bournemouth
Christian Dailly - Unattached
Benjani Mwaruwari - Unattached
plus the news that youngster Jed Wallace has joined from Lewes but this as yet has not been confirmed by the club.
Know of any rumours then let us know. At present though the silence is deafening with only news of a couple of former players; that is Lomana Lua Lua will not be joining Sheffield Wednesday and Papa Bouba Diop has joined West Ham.
We will keep you updated if there are any developments.

Pompey have just formally announced the signing of Lewes teenager Jed Wallace. Andy Awford told the Official site "He's a central midfielder with a good attitude. He`s a level-headed lad who wants to learn. This is the first step on the ladder - there is a lot of hard work in front of him. But hopefully he will blossom and come through the ranks."
One for the future then and we beat Newcastle to him too!

Just had a call from John my mate the taxi driver... he suggests there isn't a problem with Mokoena's visa after all .. he's been left at home (rather than go to Spain) as he might be 'going somewhere'.. He knows this as he used to deliver milk to his next door neighbours sons girlfriends mother-in-laws uncle.. apparently

You lot sound as if you doubt me ... so here's another one .. Apparently according to my mate Pete (he's the one that mows the lawn for Steve Cotterills Grans next door neighbour ex husband) . We are gonna make a last minute signing that will rock the footballing world to it's bones .. Yep it's true... The Hurricane... Collins Mbesuma is all set to leave Golden Arrows of South Africa for an undisclosed fee and return to Fratton Park... He (Mbesuma) has been quoted as saying that 'he still has a lot to offer Pompey' and wants the 'adoration of the Fratton Faithful' .. he feels he has 'unfinished business on the South Coast'

Peter Crouch has just agreed to sign for stoke..I suppose that means someone will be on their way out of the Brittania..I wander if that means the Shotton rumours of a possible loan might start making the rounds again. I am happy withthe players that SC has brought in (with the possible exception of Benji-too old too slow and not a clinical striker) but a player and sprayer is needed. Where is Pedro??..I guess that will happen in the loans.
