Pompey Sign Márkó Futács

It's oficial

Yep It's been confirmed by Pompey that we have signed Hungarian Striker Márkó Futács on a one year deal with an option to extend for a further two.

Márkó Futács is 21 years old and 6ft 5in tall and has represennted Hungary at U18, U20 & U21 level

He spent last season on loan at FC Ingolstadt 04 but it appears his parent club Werder Bremen have decided to deal.

Nottm Forest were also supposedly in line to sign the player but he opted for Pompey.

It is believed that this is the player that Steve Cotterill labelled 'a calculated risk with good potential'

Hard to say at this point, not many tall strikers have set the world alight, but it'll be interesting to see how he fits into SC's places. We now have 6 recognised striker! That's a strange feeling.

Jurgan and Jan Koller were tall but not bad too and then theres Mark Hateley, Chris Sutton, Hartson and Drogba... I would have preferred a midfielder personally but I guess this lad isnt breaking the bank and Cotts wants another 2 apparently. Kanu, Halford, HH, Kitson, Benji, Pearce and Ward are all 6'2" plus.... welcome to Fratton Park, Land Of The Giants!

2 in 13 for Werder Bremen in the German top flight at the age of 20 not bad going if you ask me and if Forest where in for him as well theres got to be something there cause McClaren would have seen him 1st hand. I do love this sort of unknown signing, well done SC!

If he is anything like Crouchy then he won't be half bad, defenders hate marking him, and it got us lots of free kicks around the box. Who is our best free kick taker now?

We had lots of free kicks and corner kicks in the last few games but we did not score from them! Also, we have long throws coming in from Halford! Lets hope this guy can sort it out soon! He also seems to have good shooting skills! you have to check this video out! PUP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gts8tLcluw&feature=related

Its good to have these options.. now if we play a team with a dwarf defence we can chuck him on and he can set people up or head one home. The Youtube video shows he can use his feet pretty well, hopefully it's not a fluke!

With a team all over 6' maybe we could just head the ball round the pitch.
