'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Huseklepp signing confirmed

The news we were all waiting for has just been broken on the club's official site. Finally the signing of Norway International striker Erik Huseklepp has been confirmed.

The delay, I assume, was over the international clearance and Football League approval as they oversee the club's business plan following the exit from Administration. Now it is all signed and sealed Erik will be available for the trip to Ashton Gate tomorrow.

Huseklepp told the official site "It was a difficult time for me in Italy and now I'm looking forward to playing in England. It's a dream for me to play here.

"I found out Pompey were interested in me a few weeks ago and I was excited straight away. I know that before they got relegated they were in the Premier League for seven consecutive seasons and they are still a big side.

"The manager showed that he really wanted me here. He's seen me play and liked what he saw - that's really important. Now I want to show what I can do and prove myself at Portsmouth. I hope I can contribute to helping the club win games. I will work hard to make that happen."

Erik only signed for Bari in January but they had a disastrous season and finished seventeen points from safety losing twenty four of their thirty eight games. They were relegated along with Brescia and Sampdoria.

He has signed a three year deal and cost the club a reported £1.5m. I would expect him to start on the bench tomorrow but with Benjani far from fit and Kanu having played twice in a week, who knows?

Good luck to Erik in his Pompey career!

Great news, gives us another option. We can switch it abit upfront now. Give him a bit of time to get used to us, I'm sure he will do well.

I'm not sure he'll start this afternoon, but glad that it's all wrapped up and I'm looking forward to see him in action.
