Pompey in for Leadbitter?

Pompey in for Leadbitter?

According to TWTD.co.uk Pompey will soon wrap up a move for Grant Leadbitter?

With another former Pompey transfer target, Keith Andrews, set to complete a loan move to Ipswich this will see us land another Ipswich captain, having signed their previous one Chuck this summer, from them.

TWTD.co.uk says: 'Blackburn Rovers midfielder Keith Andrews will complete his loan move to Town tomorrow in time to make his debut against his former club Hull City on Saturday.

'TWTD understands that the 30-year-old Irishman's recruitment is set to trigger skipper Grant Leadbitter's departure to Portsmouth.
'

And...

'We understand the addition of a further central midfielder will see Grant Leadbitter move on to Portsmouth.

'The 25-year-old was linked with Birmingham City earlier in the summer but that deal fell through after the change of manager at St Andrew's.

'The former England U21 international, who was mentioned in connection with a possible £2 million move to Wigan in January when he was also linked with West Ham and Wolves, is now set to be reunited with his former Blues team-mate David Norris at Fratton Park.
'

Interesting, lets see what happen...

I have also just had this 'word on the street' message come through to me: 'Journo says Tractor Boy source says Pompey bid for Grant Leadbitter is likely to be accepted.'

The plot thickens...

Would be a good signing if true. Is he not the captain there too, taking over after Chuck left? Seems strange to appoint him in that role, and sell him.

That's exactly what I was thinking Alty. However, SC did appoint Marc Wilson captain and than sold him. That was a different case though I suspect!

its good to have a player whp has a proven partnership with one of our own, and oi would assume chuck would have had a lot to say to SC about him..

Would still like to see a striker come in as a priority rather than another midfielder!!

Another leader as Cotterill likes, would like to see this come off today if we can.

Northampton (h) - Securing home advantage?

Some could view this as a 'dead rubber!' It isn't as Champions Northampton will want to end on a high and Pompey will want 'an advantage' against Plymouth in the play-offs. Right?

    Pompey MotM at Hartlepool

Pompey went into the penultimate game with a slim chance of a top 3 finish. A 2-0 win at Hartlepool saw the Blues do what we needed but wins for others ended those chances.
