Harry: Second 'Fair' Offer Rejected

Redknapp is tonight thinking about his next move regarding Petrov since Celtic turned down what Pompey say is a fair offer.

Redknapp told the Scottish Daily Express: 'We have made a new offer but Celtic have come back to us and told us it won't be accepted.

'We have been informed that they want to keep hold of the player.

'That is their prerogative as Stilian Petrov is their player and is still under contract.

'It now looks like we are struggling because we have made a good offer for the player but Celtic have made it clear they don't want to sell him.

'We don't know what else we can do.

'I can understand Gordon Strachan's position because I would do the same to try and keep one of my top players.

'Whether we go back in with another offer is up to the money-people to decide but we feel we have made a fair offer for a player.'

In other news: Sven's agent has made an offer for Villa and Pompey miss out on Pennant to a bid reaching 8 million by Liverpool!

As the buyer we want to pay a bit less & they the seller wants top rouble. providing it's not a stupid amount above what we think, pay it & get him on aboard asap. If we have all this money what are we haggling about. If it is too much, sod them all & move on.

Hopefully we can sort something here, if we're offering £4.5m, then I'd say up it to £5m max (some would argue still cheap I know) and if that's not acceptable let's not waste anymore time here and move on
pompeyrug
you Know i think it's still cheap and if your honest with yourselfs you know it is. You are getting a top draw midfielder that has it all, He has proved at the highest level. The valuation that we've heard is £5m which is cheapso pay it and the deals done. There's a bit to much said from rednapp in my opinion.
paulmac67
If you dont get him now before the end of August so be it he will be a lot cheaper in January after spreading a bit of discontent among the Celtic ranks.
TeddyLyon
If we can get him for £5m then lets do the deal. My brother has just got his insurance paid out on an accident he had so if Gaydamak is short of a bob or two I'll dip my hand into my pocket and sub him ;)
pompeyrug
If he can score as many goals as a 10 million pound player then offer more.
pompeygray
I would like to keep him for the champions League so waiting to January would suit us aswell. He would only have to have a few blinding games and you never know price could well go up.Wanting to play for Pompey or not any player loves playing in the CL and it's where Stan belongs.
paulmac67
and if your throwing money about...........
paulmac67
do you think you'll ever be able to attract any decent players pompey? it must be pretty crap supporting a team that just cant attract ny good players. you have a lot of cash now but ironically you cant get the players. what pompey need to do is what weve done at spurs and sign young brits and bring them through. i know you hate them but theres some decent players at the saints you could pick up cheap ie; bale. probably get him for around £2m and hes gona be fantastic. curtis dais at west brom, £7m. could take routledge back on loan for another season or one you should try for is get a loan deal on andy barcham from spurs reserves. hes only 19 and hes shi t hot
ExiL
Exil. It must be pretty crap supporting a team that still lives on the glory days of the 60s. We may not be near you're level at the moment but didn't we finish above you a couple of seasons ago & have the nerve to beat you a few times. Not bad for a crap team. You have your first decent season in ten & you call the shots do you? I've nothing against Spurs but get down off you're 'Cockrel' & concentrate your own battles with Arsenal & we'll worry about ourselves.
