Pompey sign Dailly on short deal

Straight from the official site's mouth!

Pompey have signed defender Christian Dailly on a one-month deal.

The 37-year-old former Scotland international was available on a free transfer after leaving Charlton at the end of last season.

Dailly began his career with Dundee United, making 173 appearances before moving south of the border to join Derby in 1996.

He went on to play for Blackburn and West Ham and had a loan spell with Southampton before returning to Scotland to sign for Rangers in 2008.

Dailly's final game for the Glasgow giants was as a substitute in the 2009 Scottish Cup final triumph against Falkirk.

He has spent the last two seasons with Charlton, where he made 88 appearances.

Only a month, gives good cover for a while though until we get some more bodies in, if he does well you never know

Decent player, always thought that. Shame he's at the wrong end of his career. Good cover though!

We need people, he's a person, ergo he fits the description. Like you say Paul, he'll probably just be a placeholder until we get someone else in, but I must say I was shocked when I saw his name on the team sheet on Saturday, first I had heard of it.

Greetings from Canada fellow Pompey Fans. I too think the signing of Dailly is a stop gap given the recent inactivity in the transfer market. I was a little surprised to hear that he was training with us, let alone being signed for a month, and then on the bench for Saturday! My overall concern aside from the lack of further signings is that whilst we have 15 players, 8 of them are defenders! We have only 4 midfielders and 3 strikers as listed on the OS and SSN, and that includes Williams whoh has been 'accelerated' from the academy. I hope there are a few more signings in the very near future to boost the midfield and striking ranks. My other concern would be the number of yellow cards the defenders picked up on Saturday, lets hop ethat doesn't come back to bite us!
