Enough wasted time, lets move on!

Enough wasted time, lets move on!

According to a comment that I sae this morning it was being said that News columnist Neil Allen has 'Tweeted' that Pompey had seen the latest offer for Martin Paterson rejected?

This has now been backed up, at least with an article, in The News today...

This would, by all accounts, make at least 3 rejected offers for the Burnley man now over more than a months worth of stalking!

Clearly now it is time to move on, abandon the pursuit of Paterson and make up for lost time by looking elsewhere.

On the face of it we have now 'wasted' around 6-weeks with our constant pursuit of a player that Burnley clearly have no intention of selling...

Whilst we are in desperate need of a striker part of me would be relieved that our advances have seemingly failed for the Northern Ireland international.

I say this as spending that type of money on a player, albeit with a proven record at this level, with his injury record in recent seasons - well, spending that type of money on any players given our recent history really! - did not sit that well with me.

It is just frustrating that we seem to have wasted so much time 'courting' him...

Couldn't agree more Rug, if we had other money we could be spending then that would be fine, but it's all tied up in this deal, so we have lost out on so many players in the last 6 weeks because of this persistence. No more, let's get someone else in, preferably before the Brighton game.

Get someone on the phone to saggy baggy harry, there are a couple of young Spurs forwards who could do the the job. Harry Kane.

Don't think we'll see anyone coming in from Spurs for a while, they're still a bit miffed over not getting Begovic. You'd think Krancjar, Defoe, Crouch, Kaboul and Harry would've softened the deal a bit.

I'm not sure of the persistant logic of pursuing Paterson. Like Rug says enough time has been spent on this with no outcome and this has meant other potential strikers have been lost. There has to be some questioning of Lampitt's transfer strategy. Is Paterson our only option?

Defoe and Kaboul came from where? Harry left you with 5mil, Crouch should still be with you and Krank who sulked for a year at Pompey. Dont need the keeper.

We just cannot blame Lampitt's strategy for this bluedr... I am sure SC was more into Pato than DL. Matt Tubbs will do us a job and we'll get him for peanuts! Loan Benjani maybe? Rovers got Goodwillie!

I agree Malta but do feel that Pompey don't seem to have a back up plan if the Paterson pursuit fails. Tubbs Yes, Ings from Bournemouth, Vokes etc. We could probably get all three for £2.5M. Benjani, nice guy but no thanks. I get the feeling we are waiting for some clubs to conclude their transfer activity and thenn we will see movement (Chelsea and Stoke).

18 goals in 77 appearances for Burnley, 0 out of 12 for NI; £2.5m; I don't think so - move on SC.

MATTY TUBBS-BILLY SHARP-ADAM LeFONDRA. I've shouted it from the roof top..they would all do for me.. I wuld also welome Vokes (He did well at AFCB) I dont know much about Ings, but i do Know about Lua lua and as a freebie...why not. Paterson looked useful when he played for Burnley in the prem and can see that attraction, Benji..not a blue hope..would be a passer I reckon..

    Almost there...stay on target

The win over Newport saw Pompey react well to the defeat to Stevenage with most results going in the Blues' favour too, meaning we've effectively got a seven point buffer on Boro.
