Rumour mill in full swing

With Steve Cotterill confirming that Pompey want 3 players, and could actually be 'closing in' on signing them, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive.

Two of these will be permanent signings and one a loanee, if Cotterill get his way...

All manor of names have been mentioned, both new and old although it is the 'newer ones' that are most favoured it would seem.

Dean Leacock is a defensive name that has come into the mix since the weekend and it is the 'versatile' Derby man that many now think will be the defender that arrives - and permanently.

The midfielder, well this one is a seemingly a 'tougher one' for the rumour mongers to nail down.

Brian Howard was long again mentioned in connection with Pompey and he could be the one that I 'think' we will get, although Keith Andrews and Michael Tonge, who has been 'linked' with us on and off since Cotterill arrived, have started to be strongly backed - again this arrival would be permanent for me.

Martin Paterson would have been most peoples striking favourite, given the 'long-term links' to him, although the Burnley man 'might' be piped to the post as the striker signing?

Coming from nowhere, seemingly, Wolves striker Sam Vokes is being 'strongly linked' with a move to Fratton. Social networks sites are 'dropping hints' so perhaps the Welsh striker could be a surprise arrival at Fratton - this one is 'believed' to be the loanee...

Until the players start arriving at Fratton the rumours will continue - a Lithuanian midfielder is also getting some column inches in Russia and now here in the UK.

All being well the trio of arrivals will start in the next 24-48-hours?

Dare we start to believe that we will have a new signing, maybe more, on show against Betis on Saturday!?

Leacock, hardly a jaw dropper is he?

not one of the names is to be fair Paul, but in these strapped times, ive long given up thinking anyone of real class will be travelling down the A3

Leacock may not start but as mentioned being versatile so can cover any position in defence, good cover player. Still think we need another 2 strikers, a fox in the box and a striker who can play across the line.

Sam Vokes was linked before although the papers had it as a slim chance. Leacock is to make up the numbers lest we get left with a Mok the Weak or that ilk. Pompey seem almost to be making Patterson a statement of intent, £2mill is more than enough for a man continuously unlucky with injuries.

didnt leecock make a huge blunder against us a few years back allowing us to score an odd goal...Vokes, did well at AFCB
