15 soon to become 18?

15 soon to become 18?

Currently standing at 15 the PFC 1st team squad numbers are small, although to be honest the quality of this 15 is pretty good.

Clearly more bodies are needed though as an injury or suspension here or there and we become really stretched!

With a little over a month to go before the transfer window shuts, at least as far as permanent signings go - the loan window is open 'pretty much' all season - we still have time to bring in other players so we should still not be panicking.

Although with so much time passing since our last arrival it would be nice to bring in at least one more player, without our budget, pretty soon!

Ideally we would like this ASAP, without a doubt before the season kicks-off in a couple of weeks but at a push we can just about get by for a few weeks more.

'Getting by', all being well, is not something we will have to do though as The News today reports that Pompey are 'lining up a trio of signings'...

One loanee and two permanent arrivals.

Steve Cotterill says that he wants a striker, central midfielder and versatile defender - and that is what these players will be.

No names have been mentioned although 'rumours' have seen Martin Paterson, Keith Andrews and Dean Leacock all mentioned recently, some more than others, and these 3 fit bill, although I would 'doubt' that these would be the arrivals, well not all of them anyway...

Fingers crossed we can bring the striker in at least by the weekend and can give him a game against Betis!

What do you reckon guys, any ideas on who these players could be - or who you would like them to be?

Thoughts as ever are welcomed below...

I have a feeling it'll be Paterson, Van Aanholt and maybe Leacock. It'll be refreshing to see new faces in, and I'd even take 2 out of these 3 (According to Meatloaf, that ain't bad).

Nah PFC, someone who is a workhorse and a natural goalscorer, not Cotterill's kind of player. I don't think we'd sign him no matter how much Carlos begged.

I think a squad of 20 would be about right to give a little competition, keep within finances and allow for a couple of injuries. Come on SC, 5 more please.
